I write and talk about the NBA, especially the salary cap, CBA and roster construction stuff. I do these things for Spotrac, NBA Front Office Show and The Basketball Bulletin. Any nonsense you see here is from me, not my employers.

The Bulls will go over the salary cap by acquiring Buddy Hield for Rob Dillingham. Still $34.6M away from the luxury tax. The Hornets drop to $25.6M under the luxury tax by acquiring Dillingham for Hield. Charlotte created about a $2.7M TPE in the deal too.

Please send feedback on what you like and don't like. And, as always, if something seems incorrect or off (a trade isn't working and you think it should), let us know and we'll check it out.

If Peter Suder can show that his shooting as a senior at Miami (OH) was real, I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually snags a two-way contract from the Bulls. Good camp pickup by Chicago, who can use more shooting across their entire roster.

Hawks are taking on about $2.4M by acquiring Dorian Finney-Smith for Buddy Hield and Ryan Nembhard. Atlanta will be about $1.4M under the luxury tax with 15 players on standard contracts. Hornets will have 18 players on standard deals, necessitating three waivers.

I worry about his shooting and overall offensive role, but Ausar Thompson is so good defensively that $31M AAV is probably fair. I think he'll return good value on that contract, especially so if there's any kind of offensive improvement.
