In grim times humour can be a challenge to find. But where there's a #WillFerguson, there's a way. In Meanwhile, Back in Nokomis: Tales from Canada and Elsewhere, he enchants with ironic, wry & affectionate travel tales. Enjoy! @theseaboardreview.ca @douglasandmarty.bsky.social tinyurl.com/7n3v6um3

It's cardigan season, and I don't own a single one!!!! I love cardigans, how did I get here?! It's a bit late to knit one now 😮💨
Getting so many of book promo offers now. As @clarkeaward.bsky.social says, these are getting VERY custom-tailored, so beware. Also "literary" clubs saying they'd like to feature me or my books but then (if I write back for info) it turns out they want me to pay them for the exposure.
Some scams are easier to spot than others. That said, we get these semi-regularly and they are only getting more focused and custom-tailored, so be careful writers! And, no, we didn’t reply, but it was super-tempting.

Currently teaching a creative writing camp with theme of SHIPWRECK. I asked my students to imagine what their characters pack before embarking on their ill-fated voyages. One of my students decided to base their character on me. Note item “i”: 3 jars of hair gel! But, fyi, I would pack WAY more.
We had a lot of fun making messages in bottles in Day 4 of my SHIPWRECK creative writing camp! The students really took the weathering to heart, even tea-staining the messages inside. I will take more photos tomorrow—most of the projects are still in progress.
Had a lovely walk along the Toronto harbourfront with my husband earlier this week on our anniversary. Thought I'd share some video I took of Lake Ontario. Yes, I said LAKE ONTARIO.
Sorry, I can’t go to work today. Uni is sleeping next to me
Whale, That Was Unexpected by #caseylyall & #kathryndurst, & #KelseyGarrityRiley's Fritz: A Mushroom Story delightfully upend clichés. Swallowed by a whale, tough Maude is no damsel in distress. Fritz shows u can be both introvert & extrovert. tinyurl.com/mtud4xb4 #TundraBooks @theseaboardreview.ca

I’ll be leading a creative writing camp next week on the theme of “shipwreck,” which reminded me of this cute door ornament that I encountered earlier this year. That peeling paint reminded me of breaking waves . . . #authorsEye #artistsEye #betterthanAI #humaneye
Manhole cover I espied a couple years ago at the Ghibli museum in Mitaka, just outside of Tokyo. Sure gives me Tin Woodman vibes! #authorsEye #artistsEye #betterthanAI #humaneye #travellingauthor

When you are with someone you care about, be fully present. Don't multitask, don't be thinking ahead about other things you need to do. Give them and the moment your full attention.
