Not my profession, but a lifelong hobby: I chose between sending off for one of two tabletop baseball games. Strat-O-Matic wanted a dime, , and APBA was free. That has changed my life, not in a huge way, but significantly. Career-wise, I checked out an Accounting textbook from the college library.
