There are moments to pause, when hiking in the forest...this was one of those moments. A time to look around and feel the essence of nature, its breath, your breath. Standing next to this gigantic moss covered Douglas Fir caused a feeling of smallness in the vast scheme of things. Worries shatter, they seem irrelevant here where time will continue long after we're gone. Exposed roots speak of connection throughout this woodsy scene. This is the downhill part of the hike, thankfully!! A bumpy trail winds though the green on it's way to the ocean. The day is sunny as witnessed through the treetops. Shady here, in the forests embrace.

Took this one on my recent getaway. It was a chilly morning & I found myself deep in the woods with my bear bell chiming. I hiked up this dirt trail surrounded by wild fern & evergreen trees. The light was enticing & the silence was loud. A mist hung in the air & its smelled like the sea all crisp & salty, it added a spring to my step. The dog ran ahead into the thick of the woods & I thought I would like to run like that, not a care in the world.....🐾

Gazing into the murky depth of a small pond which holds the colours of autumn with its reflection, a mirror of the goings on around the garden. We've had some rain this week and it is wonderful! The change is happening quickly now, wind blowing our autumn colours to the ground, trees adjusting to each change. This photo is of a hike I take often & always see something new. Healthy ferns line the dirt that winds its way deeper into this old growth forest. Bare branches are visible now with a cool sun advising 'winter's on its way' Tall ancient evergreens firmly rooted to their home are all around us on this walk, some even appear to be leaning into each other, seedling trees perhaps? Rust leaves are visible, scattered to & fro. A quiet photo with a damp not felt in a while.

Guess what? Another woodsy wonderland! The leaves have changed rapidly on the trees surrounding a leaf strewn manicured path. More branches are visible as the trees are one gust of wind away from losing their bountiful colours...I don't like this change & would be happy to live in autumn forever. Even the brush that lines this path looks tired and lazy, readying itself for the upcoming winter. Still, vibrant yellows & rusts canopy over this winding way on a still and mostly grey day

Some very large shrooms living at the base of a gigantic, moss covered, Douglas fir. The shrooms are as big as my shoe & grow in groupings along the root line. Ivy covers the forest floor and grows partially up some distant trees. A peek of sunlight can be seen further into the forest, no trail here...and a touch of blue sky way in the distance
