FOI research by Wildlife Poisoning Research UK reports that five Sea Eagle corpses in Dorset had been exposed to rat poison. In two of the eagles, the poison levels were double the amount at which the toxins start to harm birds. Sign our petition for a ban on rodenticides.
As a badger cull in Wales is looking more and more likely, campaigners are asking YOU to sign the Senedd petition, demanding NO BADGER CULL IN WALES. We need to fight what will be one of the greatest travesties for wildlife. (continued in comments).
Intelligent, resilient & stunningly beautiful, foxes spark a deep sense of wonder in anyone lucky enough to cross their path. Foxes will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone at Protect the Wild, and we will continue to fight fiercely for the day when all foxes are finally liberated.
Cambois, West Sleekburn & Blyth data centres sit within a mile of each other - nearly 150 hectares combined, right by SSSI & SPA sites. Each was judged alone, a gap even the council's own ecologist flagged. Wildlife feels these impacts as a whole. Planning should too.
More than 100,000 volunteers took part in the Big Butterfly Count, and counted almost 1.4 million common butterflies and day-flying moths.
Water voles have been functionally extinct in Surrey since the early 2000s. The Trust's James Herd said: "As we work towards the restoration of natural ecosystems and landscapes county wide, I hope this release is one of many reintroductions of native species that we'll see in the years ahead."
Scotland must stand up to the barbaric killings of baby Gannets in Scotland - ask your MSP to support a ban on the Guga hunt.
The bridges, in West Blean and Thornden Woods near Canterbury, have doubled the area available to a herd of free-roaming European bison. Bison were introduced to the woods in 2022, and are known as 'ecosystem engineers'.
A fox has been rescued after trapping her head in a garden lantern. Staff at Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, saved her. The Wildlife Hospital wants the public to check their gardens for "anything that could trap or injure curious wildlife".
SDC M40 is built on 76 hectares of greenbelt land near Gerrards Cross. Surveys found 188 species of invertebrates, 9 bat species, and even the nationally scarce click beetle that needs ancient woodland. The developer calls the habitat "relatively easy to (re)create", but you can't plant that back.

Reform UK, Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives have all expressed their support for a badger cull in Wales, with only the Greens and Labour standing up for badgers. This is absolutely devastating news. A cull hasn't yet been officially announced, but a decision is expected any time.

Hounds tore open the belly of the juvenile fox in a woodland, but Essex Police says there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate deliberate hunting. South Norfolk Hunt Sabs says the fox's death was "the direct result of intentional cub hunting."
Yesterday, Scotland's Public Finance Minister confirmed data centres over 50MW will need a full environmental impact assessment, and this applies retrospectively. Despite this, the government opposed a moratorium, and MSPs voted 72-32 against a halt on new hyperscale data centre approvals.
A Welsh badger cull is likely imminent. Please sign the Senedd petition and fight for badgers to live. If you're not in Wales, please do sign too! Welsh signatures hold more weight than those in England and Scotland, though!
Rats are not pests. They're empathetic, intelligent, social animals, vilified by reputation, not by fact.
Campaigners have accused NatureScot of a staggering disregard for wildlife after a subsea power cable between Skye and South Uist was approved, despite internal emails confirming it crosses protected maerl beds.
Defenceless Gannet seabird chicks are hunted and killed in Scotland during the Guga hunt. They just want to live. It’s time this outdated practice was made illegal.
A duck is the latest victim of catapult crime. This must stop, it's animal abuse!
Hare coursers in East Kent have laid out 22 dead hares in rows in a field. The farmer who found the bodies said: "People hare course quite often as part of a betting group, a betting syndicate and even online betting."
