BEHOLD! One season of growth.

My dogwood tree and garden in the spring: a 3' tall twig with a few leaves. The hibiscus are small clumps and the hydrangea is a few leaves sticking out of the mulch.

My dogwood tree and garden today: the tree is 5'6" and LUSH with foliage. The hibiscus and hydrangea are knee high or higher. Marigolds fill in the gaps as matural weed suppressant.

The knob wrenched, the lock crumbling into so much loose hardware, and in walked the fey Owen had hit with his car.
“Oooohhhhh fffuck,” Owen said, knees giving out.
“Where is it?” said Wesley. He was almost unrecognizable in his fresh clothes and not one leaf in his hair, even with the fine line of stitches closing the gash in his cheek. But his eyes were the same: that unblinking, predatory grey. Owen swallowed, his already frayed nerves further unraveling as his eyes sought something in the cluttered storage room with which to defend himself. But if a direct hit from a vehicle travelling at forty-five miles an hour wasn’t enough to put a dent in Wesley, he wasn’t sure how much luck he’d have with a stapler or a box of pens.
“Where’s what?” Owen said,
