Membership update 🗓️ To improve the efficiency of the booking process for overnight stays on Skomer and Skokholm, we won’t be taking new memberships from Monday 2nd October to Monday 26th October 2026. If you’d like to become a member to have access to priority island bookings, please apply soon!

Our Conservation Team have been continuing to assess the condition of habitats on our nature reserves. Last week, through surveys in grasslands and woodlands. 🌳 But they've been faced with a very noticeable impact of this summer's drought and heatwaves. Put simply, everything is incredibly dry.

Ever seen a spider pretending to be a wasp?🕷️ Introducing the Wasp Spider, or Copyn Cacwn in Welsh. One of nature's greatest mimics! Females have yellow, black and white stripes, making them look like a Common Wasp. Why? To help keep safe from predators. 📸Our Gower volunteers at Prior's Meadow

Seal pupping season is here 🦭 You might spot seal pups alone on Welsh beaches. This isn’t unusual and doesn’t mean the pup has been abandoned. The mothers return to the sea for short foraging trips, but will keep an eye on their pup and return regularly to them. 📸 Thinesh Thirugnanasampanthar

Happy World Lizard Day!🦎 This is a Common Lizard, spotted by our Wilder Engagement Officer, at Parc Slip Nature Reserve. It's one of 3 lizard species we have in the UK: Common Lizard, Sand Lizard, and Slow Worm (yes, Slow Worms are actually lizards, despite the name and snake-like appearance!)

Wildlife walks and connecting communities: a Team Wilder Update 🐦 Marianne has been working with Bridgend Council to connect with local families and charities. We have run a series of walks at Parc Slip, Tondu and have seen everything ranging from Swallow chicks, to Field Mice to lizards 🦎

How to keep dogs and wildlife safe on nature reserves 🐾 We've had a few recent instances of dogs bothering grazing animals on our reserves, so it's more important than ever that people walking dogs act responsibly. For the safety of pets, wildlife and other nature reserve visitors. Tips below ⬇️
