#WeekendSingles Some Yorkshire bargain bin singles. Unfortunately I don’t have the correct sleeve for the Ike and Tina one yet. I was particularly pleased to find a Beggars Banquet sleeve in the 50p box though. Been after one for ages and I’ve now found 3 in my past 3 shipping trips.

Bottom right is Upside Down by MagazineBildBottom right is the brilliant Unsquare Dance by The Dave Brubeck QuartetTop left is Everything I Own by Ken Boothe

#WeekendSingles To say that I forgot to take my lists yesterday, I managed to get hold of about a dozen company sleeves I wanted. And this single was in one of them. But, did you know… In the US, Friedman is considered a one hit wonder, but that hit isn’t Lucky Stars! It’s a song called Ariel.

#WeekendSingles It’s my birthday this week. Bad Moon Rising was No.1 when I was born, so here it is, along with the highest placed single I have from my first 23 birthdays ABBA’s Dancing Queen was actually higher than Jimmy Nail on my 23rd, but it’s not getting in twice! Info in alt. text.

#WeekendSingles As I’ve spent most of the night trying to get back to sleep, let’s do these now. 20 more singles that are in my top 100 favourite tracks. And yes, one is by David Soul. I never claimed I was cool!* *actually, I have on many occasions, but I’m yet to find someone that agrees with me

#WeekendSingles Ramping up the self indulgence this week. A while ago me and Jimmy V set about writing a list of our favourite tracks. JV never finished his, but I did, and these singles are all from my top 100. They’re in no order, as No.1 on my list is a B-Side and my list includes album tracks.

#WeekendSingles I’ve never been as excited (or spent as much!) to buy a 7” single in my life. This single was withdrawn and only a few made it out into the wild. I’ve been trying to track it down since the 80s and finally found a copy a couple of weeks ago, bought from a DJ from New York.

I bought the withdrawn 12” version off a bloke from Mexico about 20 years ago.

#WeekendSingles Seeing as though we’re having a bank holiday bonus, after two days of singles with bangers on both sides here are some where I prefer, and mostly bought because of, the B-Side. I always thought Cliff only had three good songs, but it turns out he had four! Details in alt. text.

#WeekendSingles More good value singles with cracking songs on both sides. Bowie was particularly generous in the mid-70s. Okay the Stranglers one is pushing it [Just a bit! - Ed.], but Old Codger (with George Melly) is a lot of fun! Details in alt. text.

#WeekendSingles I’m a Yorkshireman and, as such, I’m genetically predisposed to love a bargain. And what better way to get a bargain than a single with a banger on each side. I’m not talking Old Gold here, but actual single releases where the B-Side matches up to the A-Side. Details in alt. text.

#WeekendSingles I’ve been doing a project where I’m ranking all the albums I have per year. I thought it would take a couple of years, but I’m into year 10, cos I keep adding to it (around 10,000 albums, way more than when I started) I’ve just taken these out to listen to. Guess the year I’m doing

#WeekendSingles 6 new Harry Nilsson singles, alongside 6 that I already had. I’d also bought Coconut, but the fibbing Discogs seller doesn’t know the difference between ‘near mint’ and ‘drowned out with surface noise’ so it went back.

#WeekendSingles After Donald Trump called Jimmy Viz up to overturn my ban for posting the Barron Knights singles last week, here are some new ones that include a few that were at the top of my wants list, as I got them ahead of a 2 payday self-imposed record buying ceasefire.

#WeekendSingles Red card for Barron Knights?? Red card schmed card! Here’s my Barron Knights collection, including the album I loved as a kid and still like now. I bought the Get Down Shep single last week. One of their best, alongside The Chapel Lead is Missing, Anne & Joe and Little White Bum.

#WeekendSingles Today’s theme is moments. Bits of records I really like. Feel free to add your own. The bits are… Roam - the way Kate says “girl” 30 seconds in In the Air Tonight - the drum solo, what else? C’Mon Everybody - “who cares?” Like a Rolling Stone - that snare crack at the beginning

#WeekendSinglea This one is bizarre. I’ve rekindled my love of it and have listened to it more than any other song over the past year. But every time I hear it I get the feeling you get when a song reminds you of a lost love. Except this song doesn’t remind me of anybody. Maybe it’s my lost youth?!

#WeekendSingles A day in Vinyl Tap’s bargain basement netted me some nice new company sleeves to add to the collection, which now stands at 786. The bottom 2 US Arista ones with the same single in look similar, but are different. Click on the alt text for a question about that song.

BildBildThe bottom two records are both Ready To Take a Chance Again by Barry Manilow. Can anyone, who I didn’t tell the other day, tell me which 70s film the song was the theme tune for?Bild
