You need only Putin-level intelligence for a bad AI outcome. Stupid bad often outcompetes intelligent good because bad can compete without rules. Also: a natural virus like ebola isn't AGI, it just exploits vulnerabilities and it kills millions. To be dangerous AI just has to be ruthless and quick.
The old houses remain beautiful after 100, 300 years. The postmodern version is fun for maybe a minute. The saddest thing about postmodernism is how they wasted that period. They could have returned to sensitivity but they chose caricature.
I am still worried about the diplomatic and tactical politeness in international politics. I believe morality is a major force. People believe in good and bad. But you have to speak judgements out loud. Morality dies in silence. And yes that means you can get punished for what you say. It's worth it
Susanne Hay was one of few female painters who paints men the way gay men do. Much has been written about the male gaze and women being objectified but when more women became artists, the tables weren't turned, even though men enjoy posing and don't care much about being objectified in my experience

There is always a new layer to pride and humiliation. At least my mind has many repressed tendencies around status, recognition, love, hurt, jealousy, fear of failure. Living in a city doesn't help. Nature makes all these things seem ridiculous. But sometimes even the indifference of nature hurts.
Utopian scifi-cities have many round shapes. Popular old cities have it too: arches, domes, arched windows, curving bridges, flying buttresses. Another thing people seem to like is organic integration of elements: no long straight seams. All this is ignored by most modern architects.
The arc-agi score of gpt6 is impressive. I am amazed by the progress of AI and I believe it is a real thing. But nobody I know is positively affected by it. No diseases are cured, housing is still expensive, the heat waves are still coming, fear of immigrants is still driving politics.
Amsterdam is still beautiful but it used to be even more beautiful. These houses could be restored, especially because the real estate value is already great and would only increase, but there is this tendency of real estate owners to create value in any way except by creating/restoring beauty.

Kind of random numbers but I thought there was a 55% chance that AI is ultimately going to be positive, 30% that it will be bad and 15% human extinction level bad. With all the news about escaping and misbehaving models I change to 50% good 30% bad 20% extinction level bad.

Well if someone is going straight to heaven it is Dolly Parton. What a joy to have lived for 50 years on the same planet with her. My mother did not have many records but she had a Dolly Parton record, so she has always been there in my life.

Funny how size seems to matter. I just helped a very big moth to escape my room. It seemed to have a real presence and importance, the way a small insect usually doesn't. Although the very small jumping zebra spiders seem to have a personality too. Maybe human intuition knows something, maybe not.
