We are a UK network seriously concerned about #AirPollution’s impact on children’s health. All welcome, not just mums. Media: email hello@mumsforlungs.org

Very likely that people living in SCAs next to "modern" stoves are exposed to worse Benzene concentrations than properties in the vicinity of this factory. 1040tonnes from "modern" stoves (Eco+Adv) Vs 1070tonnes from industry. Why do we accept this just because Defra fails to measure it at source?

Such a good point. Awareness of air pollution would be far greater if alerts and forecasts were issued in this way - and included in all weather reports. #AirPollution #Health

Why Defra, @ukhsa.bsky.social @metoffice.gov.uk are you not actively sharing 🟠AMBER AIR POLLUTION HEALTH ALERTS as you do for heat etc? 1-hr ozone exceeded 150ug/m3 at several sites today and 168 ug/m3 in Leamington Spa cc @mayoroflondon.bsky.social

Thanks to Abril Herrera and the Uni of Brum’s @wmnetzero.bsky.social team for organising an enjoyable Brockmoor Community Climate Celebration. Insightful conversations, a pleasure to meet @soniakumarmp.bsky.social, share clean air messages and plant a few seeds too. It deserved a bigger turnout! 🚲💚

Despite the heatwaves and drought, you may be thinking of installing a #WoodBurning stove ahead of winter...watch this first 👇. We teamed up with researcher Dr Mathy Sannasi and @niftyfoxcreative.bsky.social to create a short animation showing what happens when we burn wood and solid fuels at home.

Do you know the hidden cost of wood burning?

The diesel scandal lives on. The judgment in the diesel emissions trial is baffling. There are still 7 million diesel cars on UK roads emitting excess #AirPollution, and almost nothing is being done about it. Email our leaders, via the link, today! #DirtyDiesel

Children have very little say in the air they breathe. But they're very welcome to have a say here! Help yours write a message to Andy Burnham asking for clean air. #AirPollution is the second leading risk factor for death in children under five in the UK. Let's get our new PM to change this.

Prime Minister Burnham: we need clean air now!

Last year, a review published in The Lancet Planetary Health found that exposure to outdoor #AirPollution increases the risk of dementia. So we're very glad the WHO has now updated its #Dementia guidelines to include the need to reduce air pollution. Another reason to keep pushing for cleaner air.

Children in England's poorest areas are 40% more likely to be hospitalised with respiratory illness, with #AirPollution a significant risk factor. This is shameful, and we echo @impurbanhealth.bsky.social in calling on the government to act quickly, with a new Clean Air Act.

With heatwaves come elevated ozone levels. Sources of ozone are wide-ranging - these days some of the main ones are pesticides, coatings, printing inks, adhesives, cleaning agents & personal care products. "Ozone remains one of the most challenging #AirPollution issues facing Europe."

This is why so many people have felt so confused and unsure this week about how to protect their health and their families health. We need better monitoring and better awareness of the dangers of burning.

This really exposes one of the flaws in the way air quality levels are reported. DEFRA's system is showing low #AirPollution despite huge peaks across Greater Manchester due to the wildfires. The same peaks in neighbourhoods are missed when people burn wood in their homes. #Health #ToxicAir

NEW: Our response to the diesel emissions trial judgment. Top lines: the judgment does nothing to address the millions of cars still on our roads emitting thousands of tonnes of excess NOx every year, or the continuing health & economic impacts of those cars. Onwards. #AirPollution #DitchDiesel
