Council Members and Vice Mayor Henderson recently attended the Stand Against Injustice Rally at Scarritt Bennett Center, joining the community in support of fairness, unity, and meaningful dialogue. They stood alongside neighbors and local leaders committed to building a more compassionate city.

On this solemn 25th anniversary, Council Members and Vice Mayor Henderson joined first responders in a procession down Broadway to Nashville’s September 11th Remembrance Ceremony, honoring the lives lost and the bravery and sacrifice of 9/11 heroes.

On Saturday, Vice Mayor Henderson and council members marched in the Vonda McDaniel Labor Day Parade to honor our city’s labor families and the organizers who champion fairness and opportunity. The Vonda McDaniel Nashville Labor Day Parade is always a powerful reminder of the strength in solidarity.

The Metro Council Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. The Metro Council appreciates all Metro employees whose dedication keeps our city moving every day. Thank you to our first responders and essential workers on duty during the holiday.

As we enter the final year of this Metro Council term, Vice Mayor Henderson thanked all committee chairs past & present for their leadership. 20 council members have served as chairs during this four-year term. These members' extra commitment has strengthened the Council’s work & our city.

The Mayor’s Youth Council met in the David Scobey Council Chamber this week to talk civic leadership and hear from Vice Mayor Henderson and Council Member Preptit. Thanks to former Council Member and current Juvenile Court Clerk Lonnell Matthews for organizing the visit.

We celebrated Mariposa Park’s grand opening on August 22, marking a milestone in creating equitable, accessible green space in Antioch. Attendees enjoyed mariachi music, Aztec dance, and the official ribbon-cutting at this vibrant space with courts, trails, fields, and majestic trees at its heart.

This month's Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control Paws Across Metro featured dog is Lonestar. Council Member Emily Benedict of District 7 showed Lonestar around Public Square Park, where he greeted everyone. Lonestar has a trial adoption this week, so here's to him finding his forever home!
