As the school term ends, we’re celebrating an inspiring river restoration project with students at St George’s College, Weybridge. 🌊 Since January, they’ve explored river ecology and helped deliver real-world restoration work. Enjoy the summer—we’ll be back in September!

100 years of Sir David Attenborough 🌍 We’re proud he supported our Beverley Brook restoration in Richmond Park—bringing 600m of river back to life. Watch the specially commissioned film (narrated by Sir David) featuring our work 👇 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMGKSwqryso #Attenborough100

Fish survey at Petty’s Brook, Basingstoke Electrofishing helps us safely identify & record fish before releasing them back into the river. 📊 The data shows which species are present and informs restoration plans with Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. Fish recover within seconds — none harmed.

21 bags of litter removed in 5 hours 💧 A fantastic effort from volunteers at Elmbridge Meadows, helping clean up the Hogsmill River and create a better space for wildlife and people. Thank you to everyone who got involved 💚 More events coming soon 👀

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Emm Brook community event on Saturday in Wokingham 🌿 From litter picking & riverfly sampling to dragonfly crafts & conversations about future restoration, it was fantastic to see so many people connecting with their local river. More events coming soon!

🌿 London has launched its Local Nature Recovery Strategy — highlighting rivers like the Wandle, Hogsmill and Cray as priority habitats for wildlife. Many of our river restoration projects already support these goals. Find out more via the news section on our website.

Restoring the River Wandle at Richmond Green 🌿 Work is underway on a 400m stretch of the river in Beddington — removing old toeboards, reshaping banks & adding natural features like gravel riffles and wood deflectors. Why? To help the river flow more naturally & create better habitat for wildlife.

Spring is on the horizon — We're offering free, curriculum-linked river education for schools across the Loddon, Medway and Rother catchments (plus Surrey & Wokingham). Assemblies, river walks and river dipping — all local, no transport costs. education@southeastriverstrust.org

Rainy days show why working with nature matters 🌧️🌿 At Green Farm, hosted by Kent Wildlife Trust & funded by Southern Water, NFM features were slowing flows, storing water and boosting habitat. A great example of partnership working and why scaling up NbS matters.

Flood warnings are in place across the South East after Storm Chandra. 🌧️ On the upper River Mole, nature-based solutions are already working: a leaky dam in Ruben’s Ghyll is holding back fast-rising water, while 600+ new hedgerow whips over 250m help slow runoff and protect communities. #SlowTheFlow
