It's imperative that everyone know that @deniseoliver-velez.bsky.social transitioned in peace & without pain, "transitioned" meaning that according to her religion (Orisha), she still exists as a spiritual entity (something I also believe).
56 years ago today, the Young Lords took over Lincoln Hospital, demanding better care for their Black and Latino neighbors. It's important to read this alongside patients rights movements and wages for housework because there were *many* such takeovers of clinics and hospitals in this period.
