This btw is classic contentious politics theory by Charls Tilly. If you close legal pathways for agency, it doesn’t stop mobilization, it just makes it illegal. If repression is inconsistent on top of that, people who mobilize radicalize. So we can expect more violence individual and organized.

I think that academia has not absorbed the fact that AI agents are now good enough to independently reconstruct complex papers without access to code or the papers themselves; just the methods & data. They aren’t perfect but the errors are often in the human paper, not the AI making a mistake.
Quite fascinating. It feels like an emancipation, and will change some dynamics…
