Saturday's season finale of #AlleMot1 was by far the best of this 6-episode run. The paragliding round had all the bits that make this show so nerdy and fun! Down in St. George, a new radio station is turning ears.
Radio M brings a massively eclectic adult playlist to the rapidly growing region.

When it comes to radio, we've got it pretty good around here in the City of Saints. But down south in St. George, where "cultural wasteland" is one of the most common phrases thrown around -- even if it's not an entirely accurate one -- an adventurous new radio station is turning heads and building a small but slowly growing audience of intensely devoted fans.

KMUT, which calls itself "Radio M," went on the air August 1 on 103.5 FM in St. George, along with translators on 103.9 in Cedar City and 104.3 in Mesquite, Nevada. It's a licensed update of an adult album alternative format that's been running on a station in Indiana for more than 40 years, and the two stations are even getting ready to occasionally share some special programming through what they're calling a "swap meet."

The trade journals call Radio M "adult album alternative," or AAA for short, but that hardly does justice to the station's extremely wide-ranging music library, not to mention its strong commitment to local involvement and knowledgeable local hosts who don't just read slogans off a screen. If you're a SiriusXM listener, imagine Alt Nation, XMU, First Wave, Lithium, Deep Tracks, and maybe five or six other channels all thrown into a blender. And the music is chosen and sequenced entirely by hand and entirely locally; there's no mandated playlist coming from a faceless corporate headquarters.

And in traditionally deep-red southern Utah, Radio M isn't afraid to be fully inclusive and diverse, and late-night host Zenith -- who came to Utah after 30 years at the original Radio M in Indiana -- has already developed quite a reputation for being outspoken on the issues of the day. The station even recently ran a "Canada Week" promotion to show its support for the many Canadians who vacation and winter in southern Utah. As one might expect, that hasn't gone o
