I would say this even if I’m not shouted out in this piece but I wholeheartedly endorse the existence of a “Spirit fantasy football league” beat. And of course since it’s Jason, he absolutely nails it. Even if the Spirit keep struggling, the fantasy beat will, I’m sure, be a bright spot.

Spirit subs heading down to get loose as they do around this time at every game, but Ashley Hatch looks absolutely delighted despite the conditions.

Bethi & Luvanga have been called to the bench, so that double sub is coming soon.

Shores dumps Kouassi to the ground to halt a Spirit counter. Tactical foul for sure, and for a player on a yellow that's very dangerous as a choice. But, it's far enough in the Spirit's end that Shores isn't getting any further action (or, to be fair, much of a protest from the Spirit either).

We've gone from rain to drizzle to rain to a swirling rain situation here at Audi Field. Spirit have Bethi & Luvanga warming up at the south end.

0-0 at halftime, and very little in it between the Spirit & Angel City. Both teams pressing well, & rain means it's been easy to force the disruption. Spirit have marginally more danger around the box, but key moments broke down from a couple of poor decisions or an underhit pass.

Shores high boot just caught Kouassi in the face. Yellow for Shores, but Kouassi is up on her feet already.

I understand getting hung up on why Smith is off her line but the answer comes before she's even in frame here. Watch the CBs, there's a clear miscommunication. They play this like they expect Smith to be even further from goal than she is, rather than being surprised to see her off her line
