Started growing vegetables inside and they were doing GREAT until I went away for a couple of days and half the seedlings were dying 😩 Bought a raised bed and put them all outside this morning and now ALL of the seedlings are dying 🥀

Ticket-taking used to feel like the job. Kent asks @shaundai.com what is left for traditional software engineers as AI keeps shrinking coding time. Full episode and notes: https://www.epicproduct.engineer/curiosity-micro-sales-and-ai-as-a-supplement-with-shaundai-person~smf9h
@shaundai.com's product habit: walk the feature as a user first. What if my kid picked this up? Then ask the question - never start with a big disagreement. Full episode and notes: https://www.epicproduct.engineer/curiosity-micro-sales-and-ai-as-a-supplement-with-shaundai-person~smf9h
@shaundai.com on AI hype: stop waiting for the model to save you. Use it as a supplement, and get better at making software sustainable with it. Full episode and notes: https://www.epicproduct.engineer/curiosity-micro-sales-and-ai-as-a-supplement-with-shaundai-person~smf9h
Named my work AI bot “Shaundai NotARealPerson” But no one laughed as hard as I thought they would 🥀
@shaundai.com on collaboration: every cross-team ask is a micro-sale. First sell the conversation. Then the small piece of work. Then the next step. Full episode and notes: https://www.epicproduct.engineer/curiosity-micro-sales-and-ai-as-a-supplement-with-shaundai-person~smf9h

Trying to decide on a talk topic for React Summit My problem is that I want to talk about something that doesn’t overlap too much with the amazing content from my speaking peers, but I also want it to be something folks *want* to hear about Halp me please, friends 🥹 (actual question below)
ThE NeXt STep iS juSt mAkiNG an eFficiEnt bInArY diReCtlY wITh Ai 3 rounds of back and forth with Claude and it’s resolution was to re-word a comment in the test file
I’m reading Dark Matter & fascinated/confused by the explanation of Schrodinger’s cat theory? Like it makes sense that there are an infinite number of *future* possibilities (cat has equal future potential of being dead/alive), & the *future* gets locked in at the moment when someone observes it
My 8yo was pretending to be a cop and I was a villain. Once he caught me, he asked for my consent to arrest me. I politely declined. He said “aww, okay” and moved on.
Someone saw a post that I wrote about how inauthentic AI messages are and sent me an inauthentic message written by AI that opens with a reference to said post, asking for my business 🥀
People mispronounce and misspell my name all the time, so when someone asks for my name at a restaurant or Starbucks or whatever I just give them my nickname (Dai) But now I have them spell it phonetically bc one time someone yelled “DIE!!! 💀🔪” instead of “Day ☀️🌺” at me and I jumped sooo high 😅
I have been back and forth over the span of 5 years about whether to publish this article. All opinions and experiences in this post are my own, or from people I personally know, backed up with recent reports and statistics.
Why Women in Tech isn't enough
Women in Tech spaces help, but fall short in the long run. Real progress needs systemic change and active involvement from men in positions of power.

Which of you intelligent folks are creating or consuming content about using AI responsibly in interviews and schools? My sister is doing research for her grad school and is looking for some resources!
My 8yo niece went to a bday party she was NOT invited to (it was my son’s bff) at a bowling alley This girl figured out how to hack the score board, adjusted her score to 190, & set all of the boy’s (again, boys she does NOT know) scores to 20-40 Then cackled as she retold the story 😂 So proud 🥹

Food excites me, period. But, pretty food? In a to-go box? Yeah I’m about to Cookie Monster this thang in the parking lot 😂
JIRA giving the comments I wrote yesterday a relative date of “last month” is- why, man? 😭
My mom came by yesterday to bring some food she made me We got on the topic of the roughest year in her young-adult life, and she was like “we have to be grateful that XYZ happened, because you wouldn’t be here if I didn’t go through that” And then she 1/2
A big observation as I’m learning more Java (coming from a JavaScript background) At first glance, a lot of Java looks familiar! .filter, .map, Array…I was so ready to just jump in because they look like the methods I’ve BEEN using on the front end But no. no. NO. They are NOT the same.
years ago I had this really uncomfortable moment where someone called me out for being so negative & suggested I could maybe have a vastly different experience if I focused my attention on different things I made a silly-feeling change & it literally made me into a different person in the best way

I’m learning Java for work, which is amazing for several reasons: (1) I’m getting paid to do something I was already doing in my spare time (2) I’m getting the opportunity to *apply* the knowledge to actual enterprise projects, which solidifies the new concepts for me

I believe that the ability to be openly vulnerable is such a powerful trait that draws in some of the best, strongest connections At the same time though, it’s so tricky to strike a balance as an underrepresented minority One part of me has to appear infallible, because i have to repair cracks in
