I find the "paid protestor" line of thinking as odd as the "everyone's a Fed" line of thinking. My take on One Battle After Another is that it is a mistake to view it as a film with political answers. The politics of the movie are secondary to the story it is telling, and they are not directly related to the politics of our moment other than "ICE is bad, immigration crackdowns are racist."

DC is a welcoming city full of culture and joy, including vibrant street parties in the summer. I've driven all over the city, including east of the river late at night, and I cannot for the life of me begin to understand why these people feel so threatened.

Hearing from friends who work in downtown DC that they're already being told to work from home. Drove through downtown just to check it out and it feels sparse even for summer time here. Many locally owned businesses were already struggling, I can't imagine this will help.
