We’ve lost James Burrows, and that’s a very sad thing. Multi-cam sitcoms are hokey now, a dying art, but he was an absolute master of them. Taxi, Cheers, Friends, Will & Grace - he took stage sensibility to the screen and figured out how to make the cameras perform a ballet.
Did the first table-read for a full-cast audiobook I’m narrating, and have just come outside to enjoy the post-hailstorm sun and discovered I’ve grown one stupidly perfect strawberry. A good day.
“Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats. And, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after.”
British actor Anthony Head, best known for his roles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, has died at the age of 72

GormenCast returns! Come with us on an intensely confusing journey through the castle’s twisted halls, as we lose our minds over part 1 of Gormenghast! thetruthshallmakeyefret.com/category/epi...
Apropos of nothing (and certainly not a trailer dropping) quick reminder that Terry Pratchett was fucking great, and consuming media made by bigots is a shit thing to do! Also last year we did an episode about Gender on the Discworld with lovely messages of trans inclusion from some great people.

It’s sad to see this happening to a treasured boyband from my youth.
It’s time to get back on my bullshit. Finally, I’ll be reading Gormenghast.
It’s almost time! We’re getting ready to emerge from hibernation and return to your ears, dear little listeners.
Happy International Women’s Day! I’m woman-adjacent at best, but I’ve written about a lot of women in my book on American Teen Dramas (www.joannahagan.co.uk) Here’s a thread of my favourite “I support women’s wrongs” characters from each show in the book.
I’m not particularly romantic but I am very willing to find any excuse to cook steak and a fancy dessert* *triple-checked that spelling after a lot of cock-ups in the @makeyefretpod.bsky.social episode plans
As of a few minutes ago, I have a complete draft of my next book! Is it any good? Questionable! Is it way too long? Definitely! Do I still have a LOT of work to do? Absolutely! But now there is A Draft.
Really sad news about James Van Der Beek, so I’m sharing one of my favourite stories about the cultural legacy of Dawson’s Creek: a history of the Dawson crying GIF www.vox.com/culture/2236...

Catch me on BBC radio across East Anglia at about 9:20 - proving I’m a TV expert (or not, I might fail horribly)
Finished Wonder Man and when I say that Phantom Planet needle drop in the last episode activated me like a sleeper agent I’m being entirely serious. (Anyway Wonder Man is great, immediately leapt very high on my fave Marvel TV shows list)
Our Hogswatch extravaganza - featuring a review of the latest Stranger Times book by @caimhmc.bsky.social and a wonderful chat about Christmas no. 1s with @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk - is out now! Full video on YouTube, or find us in your podcast catcher of choice.
Belatedly catching up on The Game Awards and I’ve just learned that my beloved Inquisitor (Alix Wilton Regan) is going to be voicing my BELOVED Lara Croft and I feel totally normal about this.
Happy advent! Obviously the biggest reason for the season is chocolate for breakfast, but I’ve also got books on sale for the entire month! They make perfect gifts for your favourite TV nerds, I promise. Shop here: www.joannahagan.co.uk/shop
Am I getting emotional over a good review? Shut up I wrote a book! (Available now: www.joannahagan.co.uk/shop)

My partner just asked me if prawn cocktail actually has prawns in. I’m afraid he’s not beating the himbo allegations any time soon.
