Delighted to share that we have 2 new preprints out from very talented PhD students. Schayma Ben Marzougui developed a new IP3R Bayesian model with multi-modal gating that accounts for exact missed-events. Florian Dupeuble developed a computational model of astrocyte-mediated neurovascular coupling.

We identified how mechanical forces shape myelin development. The TMEM63A channel in oligodendrocytes converts physical cues into molecular signals that control myelin growth. Oligodendrocyte mechanotransduction channel TMEM63A regulates myelin sheath geometry: Neuron www.cell.com/neuron/fullt...

Oligodendrocyte mechanotransduction channel TMEM63A regulates myelin sheath geometry

Dereddi, Djannatian, and colleagues show that oligodendrocytes use mechanical cues to measure axon size. The stretch-activated channel TMEM63A converts membrane tension into calcium signals, which cal...

Big week for astrocyte research: 3 new Science papers link astrocytes to behavior. We're excited to add to the momentum with our new PNAS paper: a theory, grounded in biology, proposing astrocytes as key players in memory storage and recall. w/ JJ Slotine and @krotov.bsky.social (1/6)

Looking forward to this outstanding workshop on neural computation without neurons ⭐ Looking forward to presenting some new unpublished data on the influence of astrocyte ultrastructure on their function at the nanoscale in health and in #Alzheimer's disease. Extremely grateful for the invitation!

If you are around for the @cosynemeeting.bsky.social conference and interested in how neural computations happen in the brain without neurons (with astrocytes), drop by our workshop co-organized w/ @inbalgoshen.bsky.social and @leokoz8.bsky.social www.cosyne.org/workshops-pr...

Version of Record of our work at @elife.bsky.social has been published! Super proud of this one after all the hard work of the lab seeing it to the end. Make sure to click through figure supplements as there is so much good stuff in there - sex differences, etc. elifesciences.org/articles/99988

Early-life stress induces persistent astrocyte dysfunction associated with fear generalisation

Amygdala astrocytes play a critical role in mediating the effects of stress during infancy on neuronal excitability, synaptic plasticity, and memory.
