@palliativescot.bsky.social hi Mark do you know of any work on palliative care in Lewy Body Dementia in care homes? Purely personal interest as my mum has Lewy body and is in care home and it’s something that I’m thinking about as her power of attorney.

A discussion / request for solutions … We understand that adrenaline degrades after prolonged exposure to temperatures above 30*c With that in mind - and following the same principles as dogs in a hot car - how are community / district nurses managing the storage of adrenaline during their shift?

Today’s Trust wide leadership meeting focused on talking openly about where community healthcare needs to go- and what has to change to get there. Much of what was said has been on the table for years. Is the wind finally in our sails? 🤞 #10yearPlan #NHS #QueensNurse @eecnhs.bsky.social

Space itself is an innovation. You can share the recipe for the best ice cream in the world, but if the seller has no time to churn, taste, or even pause between customers, the recipe is meaningless. The first innovation is not the flavour, it is actually creating the space.
Digital tools are the “in thing” at the moment. But much of the scepticism in my spheres of conversation is because in ‘the lab’ these things work well - because there is steady network connectivity. In practice, in some areas, in a patients home, I can’t get a single to phone 999. #nurse

We want the media and politicians to recognise that there is a large number of women who are supportive of the trans+ community. We call on them to report truthfully about the sources of violence against women and to address the systems that perpetuate harm. notinourname.org.uk/petition/not...

🧵 In the twix between excelling at GCSEs and burnout in AS levels. I considered doing an apprenticeship in car mechanics. I was actively discouraged because “you won’t like being dirty and oily” - presumably because I was / am a cis girl. 1/2
Also noticeable in this guidance is how it reinforces gender stereotypes, you know exactly the type of messaging used, as in US, but obviously elsewhere, to attack women's rights. This may seem minor, but why is girls playing with trucks treated as something to "grow out of" bsky.app/profile/lous...
If you were trying to come up with more harmful guidance towards trans and non-binary young people you would be hard pressed to find it. The fact it is backed by Cass shows how wrong it is. We are already seeing an increase in suicide rates among trans young people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Just curious 🤨 Do I have to seek permission to cut my hair like this as an adult? What is a gendered hair cut anyway?
I’d love something like this - unfortunately not in the right role to have the study leave supported … but I’m defo keeping this on my bucket list of CPDs

Huge congrats to Dr Angeline Price. AHP in research rising star @gerisoc.bsky.social @ncaresearchnhs.bsky.social And also @kewdoc.bsky.social rising star for research. Ms Elaine Francis won rising star for clinical quality.
This week I had a “rapid car clean-up” experience – unfortunately I was one of the many collisions on the ice. Crashed car admin is the only thing worse than having to quickly empty all the pockets and car cupboards before the recovery arrives. 🚙 fortunately no one was hurt #DriveToArive #nurse
I have a question How is decreasing the payment allowance for travel supporting the Long Term Plan - hospital to community? “car mileage rates will drop from 59p to 56p per mile for journeys up to 3,500 miles annually” Many community nurses use their own vehicles to visit patients. Is this ok?!
Gentle reminder - if you have to speak to someone in the NHS over the next couple of weeks, know this: The person you speak with is just as frustrated as you - they don’t need to be shouted at, told they don’t care, or even sworn at. I’ve worked all weekend - I’ve done my best & so have the team.
In a week of tricky conversations I’ve decided that I’d like to be able to use a pilcrow so I can understand the “formatting” or intention of the conversation and communication. #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #Oliverscampaign
#Oliverscampaign We didn’t suddenly create more neurodivergent people. We finally started listening. Diagnosis is not a trend, it’s visibility, understanding, and long overdue recognition
Please share I’m looking at how organisations / departments / teams support clinicians who are newly qualified as non-medical prescribers? Bonus points if you are in a community trust, and have supportive things set up for #DistrictNurses with v300 #QueensNurse #NHS

This isn’t only about District Nurses being in clinical roles, it’s about those in strategic roles understanding the VALUE &thinking skills of DNs. Strategy needs to be led by ppl who understand the nuances of delivering clinical care in a domestic environment. @theqicn.bsky.social @rcn.org.uk
District nursing is in a dire state, and the latest report from @nuffieldtrust.org.uk shows a worse than feared collapse in the workforce. Westminster government’s ambitions to shift care from hospital to community will fail unless the district nursing workforce is rebuilt. ⬇️
