Commiserations to Count Binface. Now that No-Show Nigel has finally stopped arguing with a bin, we can get back to talking about that £5 million!
Don’t forget to make the most of the Great British Summer Savings scheme, with free buses for all under-16s for most bus providers. And enjoy VAT discounts on kids’ meals in restaurants, as well as trips to the cinema, soft play, theme park and theatre!
Wishing the best of luck to all Watford pupils getting their A-level results today!
I’m delighted that Watford has been awarded just under £6 million in National Lottery funding since April 2025 across 22 projects. This is a fantastic investment in our community. It’s great to work with Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, on several occasions as a valued local partner
It’s really disappointing that the skate park in central Watford has been closed to make way for a new housing development. We all agree that Watford needs more housing, but the skate park was well-loved and continued to be used by many. These are the kinds of facilities our young people need!
It was an absolute pleasure to speak at the Fertility Matters at Work event with local Watford businesses. I strongly encourage all Watford businesses to join me in signing the Fertility Pledge, offering paid leave to employees undergoing fertility treatment. alicemacdonald.org/campaigns/fe...
Calling on all grassroots organisations to apply for Flutter’s Cash4Clubs scheme! It reopens in September and can be a great financial support. It was a pleasure to visit Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, which received a grant from Flutter earlier this year. www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/2644187...
I’m here on The Parade. Many Watford residents have raised the poor state of the pavement on our high street. They are absolutely right – we should take pride in our town and so should the Council. They need to get on and clean it!
Two years ago, you elected me as your MP on five missions. The third mission was to build an NHS fit for the future.
I might’ve lost the game, but visiting the Library of Requirements will always be a win! It was a pleasure to visit at Croxley Business Park and donate this giant Jenga set. For a small fee you can borrow from their library of everyday items. www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/2628661...
It was a joy to read and reply to fantastic letters I received from pupils at Coates Way JMI and Field Junior School. It’s a treat to see how enthusiastic they are to write to their MP. I am committed to working for the young people of Watford to ensure they have bright futures.
I was pleased to Chair the City of London (Markets) Bill Committee once again. This meeting confirmed the final details of Smithfield and Billingsgate wholesale markets’ relocation to a single site with modern facilities.
It was an honour to meet Simon and Amanda, 2 of 150 volunteers working at South West Herts Samaritans, staffing the phones 24hr a day, 365 days a year. They are all heroes, fielding calls from people in desperate circumstances at times of great stress. I admire their dedication.
Watford’s police did a great job of helping make sure last week’s friendly between WFC and Hansa Rostock took place with good grace and a community spirit. Well done to them!
Huge congratulations to Watford Palace Young Company for their outstanding production of Everyone’s Talking About Jamie. Incredible talent on display!
Always a pleasure to hold a surgery session in #Watford. I really value the chance to speak with residents face-to-face and see how I can support them. If you have an issue you would like to discuss with me, please get in touch with my office.
Brilliant to see that the needed parking bay lines and disabled bays at Boundary Way have been repainted. All power to the elbows of the Residents Association, who have campaigned hard on this and other issues in the face of often being ignored.
Two years ago, you elected me as your MP on five missions. The second was to turn Britain into a green energy superpower. Let’s see what’s been achieved in two years…
It was a pleasure to attend the Structural Timber Association panel in Parliament last week. Ensuring a plentiful supply of housing remains one of the defining political challenges of our age. Structural timber has a massive role to play in building more homes now and into the 2030s and beyond.
I am very disappointed to hear about the cuts to bus services in Watford. Continuous bus cuts just make travel more difficult, and demonstrates that the present privatised bus free-for-all does not work for passengers. Read more here: www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/2640789...
I am pleased to support the government’s work to make the internet safer for all young people under 18, including default disabling of addictive features and mandatory ‘breaks’ from AI chatbots.
🧵 1/ After another week of reporting on Nigel Farage and Reform UK’s finances, I still have major questions about who is actually funding them, and whether it was properly declared. Farage and his cronies have responded with bluster and mudslinging. So let's look at the actual facts.
What are the latest allegations about Nigel Farage’s funding?

I was happy to accept an offer from Councillor Laurence Brass to visit the Bushey United Synagogue, and met with Rabbi Feldman, which is attended by many Watford constituents
It was great to catch up with Siva, who has run his convenience shop for 17 years. It’s brilliant to hear how the Labour government has supported Siva and his business for the last two years.
It was an honour to speak at the ‘Fertility Matters at Work’ event yesterday. Currently, employees have no right to paid leave for fertility treatment - that is why I signed the Fertility Support Pledge: alicemacdonald.org/campaigns/fe...
