Late Night Loading 🌠

It's the night before the Grand Prix trial run, and Shimizu's already arrived at the starting gate. She's excited to race, having packed all of her essentials to ensure she's got everything she needs for an early start.

A backpack with snacks, drinks for hydration and energy, a pillow and blanket, for when the sunset finally darkens the sky.... and of course her gear, White Angel.

Meanwhile, a miniature bat scuttles across the lot, toting a ratty duffel bag and a wrench. He's here in search of somewhere to hide out, hoping to ambush any newbie foolish enough to leave their gear unattended while they wait.

He spots her instantly.

It would only take a moment to disassemble a board like hers. While she's sleeping, he'd take a few pieces and disappear into the night. No one would notice a thing...

Hopefully she's a sound sleeper.

Officer Thanatos has a nasty habit of vanishing without a trace. Often without any warnings or notices. One moment he's here, offering sweet words while he rifles through the kitchenette cabinets. The next, he's gone--off performing whatever heroic acts the G.A.T needs him to do.

While Amelia's never minded waiting for her boyfriend at home, extended absences make her a little... stir-crazy. She does manage it well at aleast, putting herself to work crafting the most elaborate treats to mirror her desires.

Her little Thermo cookie came out perfect. Dark chocolate with spicy cinnamon candies, and a sweet fruity filling. She can't wait to show him.

He's not answered any of her other texts, but maybe fate'll smile down on her, and he'll find a spare moment to check-in. Maybe knowing she baked him something so special will lure her roaming tomcat back home. He always loves her desserts.

Jennie's standing over Emelyn, staring daggers into the opposing girl and marching her into the nearest wall. Emelyn shrinks back against it and meets Jennie's eyes in understanding. She grips her books as if they're going to shield her, not quite understanding exactly what it was she'd done wrong and too unnerved to vocalize it.

The plasma beam forming around Jennie's accusatory finger could destroy Emelyn if she protests. The threat is clear, and Emelyn nods in agreement to Jennie's terms.

Emelyn can stay friends with Emilia, but Jennie would always, always be her closest friend.

It's another day, another batch of paperwork for Briar... er Bramble. He's hunched over a handful of documents, flexing scarred fingertips as he reaches for a newly-brewed cup of coffee.

It's bright and early as his shift begins. He's suddenly filling in for a co-worker on an assignment to Emeraldville Acres, a settlement set aside for those whose choices put them on not-so-solid ground.

His job is to assess the residents, but ever since his arrival, he's had a nagging pressure in his chest. Like heartburn, but somehow more solemn. He's got a bad feeling about this place and can't quite place why... but it feels familiar.

He's no idea that he's been quietly surveilled for the last few minutes. A pair of green eyes watches him fumble through a new disability, attempting to grip the heated mug without re-burning his fingertips.

Nettle shrinks back behind a wall before she's discovered hiding there.

It feels like it's been an eternity-- and though he looks different in that unsightly uniform, she'd recognize Briar beyond what he looks like today. Beyond the eye bags, the greying quills, and the new bangs, she knew her brother.

After all she'd been through, would he still know her?

It's pretty late, and Amelia's just about to close up the Sweet Soiree when a special guest comes swaggering through the door.

His name's Jaun. He's a green anteater with an order to pick up--and he recognizes a fan when he "sees" one.

They have a short conversation about his band's upcoming tour, and Jaun's right- the pink hedgehog knows a little bit about their tour and where they're headed. As she fills him in with the latest news, Jaun slips a shirt over the counter and pays her for the order.

Amelia's eyes grow wide. She's positively beaming as she admires the gift-- official Knights of Spagonia merch.
