Years ago when cargo bikes started to become more popular and available in NA, I often saw other bike advocates saying "That size of a bike is ridiculous. My drop-bar commuter is enough." Cargo bikes don't replace other bikes, they replace the absurd excess seen here that nobody questions. 👇

CARS ARE FAR MORE DEADLY THAN WARS Truly Shocking Data! Impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, unrestrained occupants and killing cyclists or pedestrians are the leading factors in traffic deaths. Unrestrained occupants is the leading factor. Impaired driving is second. There is no excuse.
Feeling fortunate we had no major fires in our area this “fire season”. Huge ranges today likely bring an end to our dry season. With 2x the rain fall predicted we will next deal with flooding and leaky roofs.
People are blaming PON for shutting Cannondale and Juliana bike brands. I use to be inside that organization and I can tell you it’s not some money grab. Many compounding issues led to this point. Today let’s think of the people with out jobs in the industry.

Divers don’t care about your safety. Your city won’t build safe bike routes. The media paints the driver as a victim. It’s not your responsibility but you can encourage drivers to follow the law. If you don’t feel comfortable on shared and unprotected bike routes this might help you. I helped me.

The thing about this is that drivers don't have to actually win the argument on merit. And deep down they know that. However progressive or lefty or anarchist they are, they know that they don't have to be right or fair or just because they'll still get their own way. Same play as any right winger.

They are an integral part of the problem but also they hold the political power here & overwhelmingly they not only refuse to be in solidarity with people without car access but they centre themselves & throw us under the bus every chance they get.

Through careful planning and preparation I’ve been able to achieve my winter weight by mid October.
I think one of the reasons cyclists make such good drivers, is they were already used to seeing the world at 20mph.
Serious question, has anyone done proper research on this? i.e. stick something like a Garmin Varia radar on there and actually measure it? I remember people doing the "pool noodle" thing a few years ago with the same effect.

Cyclists are sick of waiting around for our government to make roads safe for all. LaneSaber exists as a symptom not a cure.

Zimmerman@photonicsmarketing.com · 4d agoCounterpoint, the lane saber looks a bit much, and that actually helps point out just how bad infrastructure has become in order for people to resort to this sort of thing just to feel safe. It actually makes the point you wish to make! Use it to drive home your point!
More people should own cargo bikes mostly so we can just carry weird shit people say is impossible.

I have no idea what positive systemic change would be blocked by @sundance.bikesky.social 's posts. Maybe some bikers live. Maybe some people ride more, and help normalize biking in the US. The light is a reminder that drivers fail to follow the law about passing safely, that's a good message!
Sundance@sundance.bikesky.social · 5d agoI know this flip out. While I agree PPE isn’t the way to be safe, this does work. I was hit 3 times in a row by drivers pulling back into my lane after passing. This stick encourages drivers to pass safely. Bottom line. I’m safer with this.
I guess I’m just as bad as those bike helmet PSA campaigns. 🤦
@jsliacan.bsky.social · 5d agoEmbarrassing is that someone like you still doesn't get it. I said nothing about them using it (it is what it is). I raise a point about pushing this stuff to others. It's literally the same as hi-viz. Use it if you want, but advertise it? That's unhelpful in the long run.
