There is IMO no way out of this without basically firing everyone and replacing them with new hires straight out of education. And that’s not going to happen, so we are looking at *at least* another ten years of this apeshit derangement. At least ten years, just to wash off the worst.

It was all supposed to snap back to normal after elections in 2019, then 2024. But the politics they created are so insane - so utterly divorced from reality, requiring so much effort just to keep the bullshit straight in their heads - that it has created a new, awesomely horrible and scary normal.

I don’t blame the public for this: most people will be looking at this slack jawed wondering what the fuck is going on. And the answer is: the British media/political class has driven itself insane trying to reconcile a decade of its own nonsensical, contradictory, idiotic bullshit.

I understand why Luciana and others are unable to forgive Joshua, I do.
My Catholicism says I should forgive if put in a similar position, but none of us can say how we would feel if we were so cruelly targeted - especially while pregnant.
I don't think people who have committed atrocious acts should get a free pass in life.
However, I do think extremism is such a scourge in society that those who have dedicated themselves to trying to counter it should be able to earn a hearing.
If the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism can note his contribution, then I do think it is a shame that the Board of Deputies have decided not to meet him. I would hope that a young man who has renounced anti-semitism and now actively fights against it is exactly the kind of person they would engage with.In my view if we are going to properly address anti-semitism, I want people on our side who take it seriously and I want there to be a way back for people who have been radicalised to serve our country again if they have provably renounced their past.
1 am afraid it is completely inconsistent for Reform to argue for a return to Christian values, but then argue against redemption for young people like Joshua or George Abaraonye, who I also defended despite saying something grotesque and being in no way a Conservative.
And I have even less time for the Labour figures who were quite happy to serve Corbyn whilst anti-semitism ran rife, who have championed an Islamophobia definition criticised by counter-terrorism experts, and who only now decide to speak up for the Jewish community.
But my main hope is that Joshua's last few years educating people against extremism turns into many decades more, and that he can stop others from following the appalling path that he did.

"Set three years after the U.S. Congress has enacted a mandate that extra-marital sex is only legal one night a year..." I honestly thought in the trailers they were making a bad joke about Valentine's Day or something.
