As another AmeriCorps year comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the members of our 18th AmeriCorps Cohort. 13 dedicated members contributed an incredible 21,124 hours of service across New AP. Every day, refugees and immigrants strengthen our communities as neighbors, entrepreneurs, healthcare workers, educators, public servants, volunteers, and leaders. Their journeys remind us that citizenship is more than a milestone—it's an opportunity to give back.

We're grateful for our partnership with Scouting America. They taught camping skills like making a tent and created texturized art. They also took the time to teach our students first aid skills including what to do in emergencies involving choking, heat exhaustion, and hypothermia.

After fleeing Sudan as a child and spending 14 years waiting in Egypt, Basmat arrived in Georgia ready to begin again. Today, she's helping refugees and immigrants find their voices and become leaders in their communities. #America250 #RefugeesWelcome
