Some investigative reporting on limitations of some disabled people with personal carer support on being able to travel abroad. Even if it's for work and all additional expenses are paid for. Another barrier for disabled people working.

New research from Heriot-Watt University finds half of women are affected by menstrual symptoms at work, with just 16% receiving employer support and many working through symptoms.

Prof Arday was exceptional. For far too many journalists and academics that is hard to accept because he secured access to what they see as *their* intellectual and public engagement spaces. I hope that as well as dismantling the racism that took Jason's life, we can remember his brilliance.

Prof Arday had been a co-investigator in EDICa, though when he moved to Cambridge and hit the limelight his time with us was limited. We are very very saddened to hear of his too-early death and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

I admit to being the former UKRI employee quoted BUT the really interesting thing that happened yesterday was the amount of chat this created with my friends who are current employees (who can't say stuff publicly due to public sector rules), they too think this is AWFUL news.

UKRI has put its money where its mouth is on improving the lot of postgrad research students, hiking up the stipend multiple times in recent years But inevitably this has put pressure on how many new PhDs it can fund each year - there has been a 22% drop over a decade, even as funding has risen 🧵
