It was a good D&D night!
Monk hands Satyr a pamphlet on excessive attachment to physical things. Satyr: "Isn't it hypocritical to give me a physical thing to lecture me about attachment to physical things?" Monk: "It's compostable." Satyr: "Touché." #dnd
OMFG Look, I blocked this doofus a *while* back, my timeline has been all the better for it, but this deliberate and willful misunderstanding of Boots Theory is going to turn me into the Joker.
okay now he's gone too far
I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?
Having ranted about school curriculum books, I’ve just seen my son’s summer reading list, and all I can say is “I was right”. A more depressing collection would be tricky to assemble. Are we actively trying to convey to kids the idea that reading is dismal and arduous?
peekaboo!! hyena looks very happy to have just devoured the corpse of your loved one! yum!!
I'm just gonna say: it somewhat baffles me that people who are understandably skeptical of opaque LLMs as legitimate sources of information will suddenly go full on "the computer KNOWS" when they are using opaque tools to "detect" AI. The computer does not know.
❤️ Gillian Green, publisher at Tor Bramble, told The Bookseller: “HM Wolfe has confirmed that Daggermouth was written entirely without AI. We stand behind our author, and we do not recognise third-party AI detection tools as a fair or reliable measure of authenticity when used on their own.”
Fae: “Tell us your true name.” Me: “…Just my name? No birthdate, no SSN, no fingerprint scan, no address, no mother’s maiden name? Are you sure you’ve even got the right Olivia Waite? There’s like six.” Fae: “What the hell kind of bargains have you been making?” Me: “They call it health insurance.”
Jareth the Goblin King said “I’m leaving here with *something*” and 60% of the audience volunteered as tribute.
Lots of arguments for Magneto, Ozymandias and Killmonger, but my money’s always on Darth Revan. I will also argue that Jareth the Goblin King was neither right nor wrong but behaving exactly the way that an ancient fey acts when some dipshit teenager invokes him to steal her brother.

Name a villain who was actually right.
It's pretty infuriating that Trump is denying disaster aid to Oregon for political reasons and I have barely heard anything about it, while Biden was falsely accused of doing the exact same thing to North Carolina and millions of people believed that
It’s Magic the Gathering night, and Stepkid just cast Mirror Form, which Kevin changed with Arcane Malfunction, giving Stepkid 13 1/1 bird tokens. STEPKID: Someday Mirror Form will work in my favor. ME: I don’t know what you’re complaining about, you have birds!
ME: I can’t find a single decent metal cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart. KEVIN: Yeah, they all go power ballad. ME: I’m not asking for a Cookie Monster growl on “turn around, bright eyes” but… ME: No, wait, that’s EXACTLY what I want. That would be awesome.
I have just learned that they make paddles that will leave a tire tread pattern on someone’s ass, and I have absolutely no idea what to do with this information so I’m sharing with y’all. If that’s your thing, great! But…err…exactly which thing is that?
*gags* It’s not even that it’s gold, it’s that it’s so BUSY. Like, you can use gold as an accent in a fancy government building! I don’t mind! But you can’t pop it in every single empty wall spot. Then it’s just rogue molding.
Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino posted this video of the Oval Office and it somehow looks even more embarrassing than I realized
We have great newts to share! Twenty tiny Mazama newts have hatched in our lab — the very first babies of their kind ever in human care.

What I love about this book is that it feels like a guy from a much grittier fantasy series (I have joked to @adamstemple.bsky.social it's a guy from one of his books) wakes up and finds himself in a comedic romance (albeit one with a much higher body count than you'd expect in a romance).

I bought a signed copy of T Kingfisher's Wolf Worm. A scientific illustrator is hired to help an entomologist with his book on parasitic insects in the post-Reconstruction South. Only, what happened to the previous illustrator? & why is the wildlife acting so weird? 💙📚 📚🪐 @tkingfisher.com
Congratulations to our Toastmaster Ursula Vernon @tkingfisher.com for recently being named the winner of the 2026 Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature for her work, Snake-Eater! (This is your sign to add this book to your TBR if you haven't already.)
Damn @tkingfisher.com, hit pg 150 or so in THE TWISTED ONES around 12:30 a.m. a couple nights ago, sleep still not fully recovered Been a while since I got the all-over electric chills from a book like that
It’s a lot of fun to be an absolute bastard of an enchanted sword as the GM.

Just saw a t-shirt that was dry clean only, if you want to know how the apocalypse is going.
Never let someone tell you that you must excuse owning enslaved people or participating in killing Native people because someone was "of their time". Silas Soule was of the same time.
