Ok I had a birthday, and my kid brought me this! It’s from Japan, and to me it looks so much like medieval pottery or funny manuscript marginalia creatures. I love it!

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s one last festive post from me: the bubble lights on my Mom’s mantle. We had them on the tree every year at my great grandpa’s Christmas Eve celebration in Seattle.

Quick! Look at this gorgeous homemade jelly doughnut my kid brought home from a party—before I eat it. Thank you, Victor’s nice friends!

More from the “Stuff Lying Around My House” series: this copy of the Japanese edition of pre-murder mystery game Kill Doctor Lucky featuring Phil, Payne and ME plotting to get ‘im. grrrr!

Another weird guy in my house. If I remember right he’s a Mr. Thrifty. He’s old enough that he’s kind of sticky but I have art plans for him.

More thing from my Museum of Dust: upper left is the cow I got with my preorder of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for the Nintendo GameCube. I love the cow.

I just learned that Oscar the Grouch has a girlfriend and she’s so cute! A lot has happened on Sesame Street since I stopped watching…

More stuff in my house: Grandpa‘s mermaid doll that sat on a shelf in his bar, and that child me was obsessed with. She’s probably the original reason I loved mermaids from an early age. I wish I hadn’t cut her hair.

I never have anything to post on social media. Welcome to things lying around my house. Exhibit A: the red Swingline stapler I have had since the mid 70s.

I can’t fully express how grateful we are for the support folks are showing for our GoFundMe campaign. it’s all so deeply appreciated, thank you all so much. Things have got so bad, and it’s been so frightening. This is really going to help get us through. Thank you!❤️

An unexpected benefit to staying up late working: I get to listen to a bunch of coyotes yelling at each other somewhere nearby. I love their weird voices.
