I can taste this photo! As a kid this was my fav sandwich and a regular feature of my bagged lunch. I keep a jar of Branston Pickle for nostalgia emergencies
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheese_... The British cheese and pickle sandwich, pickle being not brined cucumbers but the term for chutneys.
This InfoWars caper is going a little too well. We need to staff up a bit. We're hiring a Social Media Lead, who will help make InfoWars the network of the future. We need someone who is extraordinarily online, has big ideas for how things break through in 2026, and can pull those ideas off quick.

I’m sorry Vermont. I thought your creemees were the best but this summer I’ve had more than a few Quebec ones (crème glacée molle) and hands down, Quebec wins. 🍦
25 years ago this week was the debut of this song that I made for my wedding processional zoekeating.bandcamp.com/track/arrival

Last week, one of my son’s peers was killed by a car while on her bike. Apparently, Donald Trump and his team would like there to be more such deaths and for there to be no analysis or correction of the road conditions that cause them.
USDOT pulls down more bike lane web info, saying "This is a common sense approach despite the Left's belief that everyone should ride a bike to their shoebox-sized apartment to eat crickets to achieve a phony climate agenda." If you hate bike lanes, you ride with Trump. www.npr.org/2026/07/23/n...
I worry about our presidents health and wish the man would eat a salad
One thing that makes this platform nicer is folks treat each other with respect and if they don’t, I block them, which makes this platform nicer :)
I’m rarely happy with my work but for once I was as close as I get to happy with this score. “For the Love of a Woman” is playing in Chicago today, tomorrow and Thursday wayfarertheaters.com/highlandpark...
For The Love Of A Woman

I ordered in what I thought was passable French but the server in the rural Quebec diner said, “it’s ok I can tell you’re English”. I didn’t want to say we’re from America because right now that is worse than being English speaking Canadian. We told her though and she asked if we are seeking refuge.
It has become one of our traditions to take a photo of this roadside attractions sign on route 20 between Montreal and Quebec
We saw the big movie about the big journey home after the big war. This viewer has sensitive ears and was glad she brought earplugs. It was fun but for all the noise and spectacle, she felt unmoved. She thinks she might’ve liked it more without the same sleek Hollywood actors who are in every film.
It is hard to go 3 hours without a bathroom break but be thankful the film is not 10 years long

Remembering the year in my early 20s that I decided I was fed up with daylight saving time and refused to participate. I got rid of my watch and all my clocks and instituted Zoë Time. Ah, salad days (yes, you could eat salad then)

I don’t want permanent daylight savings I want universal healthcare Thank you for your attention to this matter
America tried permanent daylight savings in 1973: “initial public support for the trial of close to 80% almost halved by the end of the 1973–74 winter amid safety concerns for children and criticisms from the construction and agricultural industries. The trial was abandoned prematurely”
The US tried year-round daylight saving time in 1973. Here’s what happened
The Sunshine Protection Act, which the House approved by a bipartisan vote of 308–117 Tuesday, would implement year-round daylight saving time nationwide

I love how local weather maps show the weather ending at the Quebec border. Like, if I drive 40 miles north, there will be no weather at all
My friend Michael Moricz, did the orchestration for this performance at the Obama Center (he also did the string arrangements for my show with the Joffrey Ballet orchestra). It gave me CHILLS. Change IS gonna come "A Change Is Gonna Come" Darryl J. Williams & the Chicago Philharmonic

I’ve heard a couple anecdotes this year about the nightmare of the post-DOGE IRS. Here is another from writer Kimberly Harrington
Hey does anyone know how to get a hold of the IRS?
These losers broke everything, even the stuff we hate

Sure I’ll go see the Odyssey but what I really want is a film adaptation of Madeline Miller’s Circe

Under a new federal rule, colleges must leave grads better off or lose financial aid
If an undergraduate program's graduates don't earn more than workers who never went to college, that program could be cut off from federal student loans. But is a degree just about making more money?

For artists, it can feel like career suicide to leave Metaland. But here’s an idea, if every single person boycotted Instagerm, Facebork, Thurds, then no one would need to be there
Less than four months after being found liable for building addictive design elements into Instagram, Meta is developing plans to lace its platforms with a novel gambling feature: a prediction market that could feed users an individualized stream of events to bet on.
