Is asking someone to leave the beverages at home for an interview as fussy as reminding a lady to wear pantyhose or a gentleman to ask before lighting a cigarette? We assembled a team of Post staffers across the newsroom — and commenters — to find out: https://wapo.st/4dwx0LS
I don't know what to think re: Michigan. I don't live in Michigan, nor do the politics there truly affect me, but at some point, I have to express concern over the idea that a man who accuses Israel of "genocide" is the winner. To me, not only is it libel, it's malpractice.
the amount of stunt training Nick did is phenomenally impressive!
Fans Are Losing It Over Old Nicholas Galitzine ‘Masters of the Universe’ Stunt Footage, and It Proves He Really Was Built for This
Facts sans context don't matter. We have to tell them a story. Or, at least that's what I think.
Yes, we teach civics. The problem is students remember facts for a test and then don't care to retain any information because they never put it to use, the same way I forgot much of high school algebra. It's the caring part that's the problem. People just don't care.
This......makes me deeply sad. I mean, as an American, but also as an educator. I don't work in Civics Education, but an educated and informed populace is the key to a hale and healthy Democracy. I don't know what the solution is, but man, this bums me out.
"Part of the problem for straight women is accessing a cultural imaginary—or, absent something ready to hand, building one—wherein desire from the receptive end of the heterosexual seduction structure is not considered the absence of sexuality."

Accounting for the nature of straight women’s desire is hard. What to do about it?

Alex and Henry marry in a quiet lakeside ceremony, surrounded by family and close friends. Henry’s overcome with emotion seeing Alex’s wedding band and pulls Alex inside to kiss him so thoroughly it makes Alex’s head spin. “My. Husband,” Henry gasps against Alex’s lips.
It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
Let's celebrate the End of Reading with another book recommendation thread! What would your last book be, if you could only read one more in your life?
The advent of reading transformed society, and its decline will bring about changes of the same magnitude, @rosehorowitch.bsky.social writes. Can America—and civilization—survive the postliterate era? theatln.tc/l2Xk9ATe 🎨: The Atlantic
LOOK WHAT I DID! LOOK WHAT I DID! (It’s in my hallway, so I can’t get a good straight on shot, but…)
What if I told you about this thing called ... wait for it ... a library, where you could read books (online and hard-copy) for free...
If @esglaude.bsky.social and @profmmurray.bsky.social books were so important, not to say they are not, wouldn't they put them online for all to read free? If they both had a book advance, wouldn't that be enough if these are existential times[which most believe]?
Well, I didn't have "going a little viral on Twitter on my bingo card today, but here we are. I can't see to the end of the notifs of who RTed, but....it's weird. And the antizionism/antisemitism are disappointing, but not surprising...
Also, RE: #MastersOfTheUniverse-- If I hear ANYONE refer to Adam as a himbo, I'll fight you. I don't know what it is about that word, but I don't like it. Adam isn't stupid. It takes intense intelligence to be so empathetic. (At least I think it does.)
#MastersOfTheUniverse WAS EVERYTHING. I'm too young to have been on the whole journey, and I was mostly there for Nicholas Galitzine, but damn this movie was so good. For me, the line of the movie is, "Trust me, I know how to use it...I just prefer not to." It just says so much about what it
Don't throw your back out, folks. Not fun. Also, it hurts to laugh. So, no funnies. (I'm joking. I'm laughing and saying ow.)
I'm just saying, I will not be held responsible for the person I become when I see Masters of the Universe. Like, I probably shouldn't even go see it in theaters because I will not be able to control myself, but I'm still going to do it because I cannot imagine not seeing it on a giant screen.
Well, it turns out drinking from the wrong sound of the glass works for getting rid of your hiccups. Hm. (I knew this, but never really believed it.)
