A pic I Posted in 2015 Throughout my career, I have caught grief for all kinds of things like this. Now, I just smile. There are worse things than catching grief for being ahead of the times. Worse things are grief that kids had because their school didn't care enough to understand the times.

Listening: it improves every relationship Just being quiet and listening. When they are ready to talk, I listen. For my kids, it could be midnight or any time. And I stop everything - even now - and listen. Listening is undervalued but increases your value in the lives of those you love.

A graphic I made in 2013: Power does not mean greatness. Greatness lies in the use of any power you may have to help, encourage, and foster greatness in others. (Note: the word foster predates AI; think long and hard if you crinkled your nose up at my graphic and assumed the worst.)

A fantastic book from Pat Williams examining the lives of great leaders. I feel better when I pull back from social media and the latest whatever "everybody" is talking about and look at the people who have lived greatness. Book reading has been taking a front seat in my life again and I'm glad!

If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't take a step, you'll stay in the same place. Are we getting by or getting better? Scrolling pointlessly - what's the point? Be intentional with your life. It is too precious to waste.

Back in 2011, this was my model of an engaged teacher. Notice the "intentional" web activities. Intentionality remains vital in teaching with purposeful planning. Not all screen uses are alike. Neither are uses of paper. You can use paper to write an epic novel or to go to the bathroom.

My Mom gave me 2 "no whining" signs from her classroom I had a few fave responses to complaining: "Call 9 waa waa" "call the waaaa-mbulance" Didn't have to say it much. My students eventually said it to each other. 😊 I'm curious: do you have something you say?

"The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by. The saint is the man (or woman) who walks through the dark path of the world, himself a light." Felix Adler Let's all be a light. #inspiration

So, if you really want to mess with your friend across the hall. You: We will only have a half-day of school this morning... Your friend: Really? That's awesome You: Too bad the second half will be this afternoon. OK, maybe they won't be your friend after you're done, but I couldn't help it!
