At jury duty in SF, one woman was making small talk with another, saying “My school starts soon. But I’m not technically a teacher; we’re called ‘guides,’ because the students do all their learning on AI modules.” And the other said, “Well you’re certainly not a teacher.”

Even if you think this is a matter of “academic freedom” (a very naive opinion, in my view) Cofnas’ claim to university employment still fails: his scholarship relies on ignoring counter evidence & making sweeping assertions from data that don’t support them, and therefore it fails *as scholarship.*

Jeffrey Masson, in charge of the Freud Archives, addressed this at the beginning of the 1980s and there was a huge and malicious backlash because Freudianism was still a thing, but in the end he kind of won because Freudianism isn't such a thing now and we recognize that csa is widespread.

Feminism’s greatest internal war is over sexual violence: between those feminists who insist (as I do) that rape is at the root of women’s oppression, and those whose loyalty to sex, or strategic assessments, make them feel that such a claim is inherently dangerous. For decades, the later camp won.

One thing I remember and hardly anyone seems to is that there's a sort of sexual revolution interregnum when all sex was good (seen from the adult male perspective, which it mostly was) including sex with children, which was publicly defended. Feminism, mostly, is what changed that.
