The humongous Chapelcross data centre would be the biggest in the world. The site is home to the rare dingy skipper butterfly. CX Power's environmental impact assessment recorded many birds at the site too, including gulls, fieldfares,skylarks starlings, oystercatchers, snipe and a kestrel.

Opposite trends for coastal dunes and inland Queen of Spain Frit (kleine parelmoer, I lathonia) on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects. Where 2026 was one of the best years inland, it was one of the worse on the coast. These populations are also different in foodplant, habitat, etc.

The Plan measures participation, not recovery. Too many targets count whether an activity happened (eg farms in agri-environment schemes) rather than whether nature actually benefited. Dartmoor's protected habitats have been in such schemes for 20+ years, and they continue to decline.
