The new episode of the Retroist over on Patreon is all about the RCA System II. This late 70s console was RCA's attempt to get in on the new industry. While it was interesting, the ol' Home Programmer just couldn't compete against other new consoles. www.patreon.com/retroist/pos...

The G.I. Joe USS Flagg playset was one of the only toys that left me speechless when I saw it in person for the first time. I just couldn't believe any kid would ever get anything this large and amazing.

This is a magnificent eighties commercial for 7 Up starring Pac-Man and a sound-a-like version of Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carrnes with 7 Up lyrics.

In 1983, the United States was having a croissant moment. Everyone was selling them including McDonald's which tested the McCrescent. It was a great idea, but unfortunately they chose the wrong time of day to serve it. A mistake their biggest rival wouldn't make. www.retroist.com/p/mcdonalds-...

I am sorry to announce that the Retroist Podcast is no longer available via Spotify. All past episodes have been removed from the service and no future episode will be posted there. I know this is inconvenient to many people and I apologize. It is still available via RSS and other platforms.
