the fact that Slack channel names are so frequently used as identifiers and passed around means that their API desperately needs a way to look up a channel by name. having to paginate through `conversations.list` to find a channel by name is abysmal. and don't even get me started on enterprise grid

just updated VSCode and the UI changed on me. when will these people learn that software is meant to stay the same forever and ever in perpetuity?
that 1 problem is that reporting AI slop will actually PROMOTE it on LinkedIn's algorithm, right?
LinkedIn Just Added a Button to Report AI Slop. There’s Just 1 Problem
Flagging AI slop is a good idea in principle, but skeptics have concerns.

i tried to hold onto some optimism when most of Ruby Central’s board turned over but at this point i don’t think there’s anything about this organization that is worth saving. irreversibly reporting André to the FBI is just inhumanly shameful and beyond the pale.
I wrote an update on the dispute with Ruby Central over Bundler and RubyGems. I'm sad it's reached this point, especially since Ruby Central's conferences are a big part of what convinced me to join the Ruby community back in the day. andre.arko.net/2026/07/30/rub…
for anyone who isn’t aware of how little gig economy workers actually earn, i just got into a $32.99 Lyft to go to SFO where the driver will only get $9. and AI will only make it worse with surveillance pricing

Ruby Central's Destructive Legacy
At conferences and meetups, and in conversations online, many Ruby developers have asked me about Ruby Central and my disagreement with them. This post is my attempt to answer the questions I’ve been getting over and over, covering: 1) what is Ruby Central doing now? 2) has the dispute over Bundler…

Uber Eats and DoorDash hid tip buttons and set default tips below 10%. As a result, tips for delivery workers fell 79%. In January, we made these corporations change their apps — and in the past six months, we've put $104 million back in delivery workers' pockets. This is only the beginning.
at some point, you have to accept that the company you keep reflects on your own character. to me, Matz and everyone who remains on the Rails core team are so obviously complicit in DHH remaining platformed and relevant and it's laughable to suggest otherwise
getting VC money for what will basically be a tmux replacement is crazy enough but that list of investors is just sooo yikesy. Guillermo Rauch? Lenny Pruss? Tobi Lütke??? Mitchell Hashimoto just continues to disappoint lmao

since he's making the rounds again, it's probably a good time to re-share my post from last year that shows how DHH has been a racist shitbag (and, yes, actual fascist) for a long time now
Ages ago, when I was still a student, I taught myself Ruby on Rails for my senior thesis and fell in love. Fifteen years later, and I’ve used Rails at every job I’ve ever held in the tech industry. Fifteen years, and I still love Rails! But there’s something rotten at its core, and we share a name.

made SIX panuozzi for a “Stoney Baloney” potluck in the park today… sourdough pizza crust folded and stuffed with burrata, peaches tossed in chili crisp and red wine vinegar, mortadella, and fresh basil

why does it seem like almost every “idea” around AI is just “build existing thing except it’s AI” or “build a new agentic harness”? like genuinely what is so fucking exciting about this
