We had a lovely visit from some of our Primary 1s this afternoon for some paired reading 📚 They each bought up some of their favourite books for us to read to them! Well done Primary 7 for being great reading role models 🤩

Last week, we used the book Emma’s Counting to explore number. Learning different ways to make the same number, working collaboratively using a variety of resources and numeracy tools to demonstrate how to do this.

We had lots of fun celebrating Halloween at school on Friday. Everyone was so colourful, actively participating in our Halloween STEM activities before heading off to our glow party.

We loved exploring our spooky themed literacy and numeracy learning experiences last week. Developing our blending and decoding skills and building our number awareness.

Nativity notice❗️ We have put the lyrics to the nativity songs and any lines to learn in home link folders today so these can be practised at home. The lyrics can also be found on our class teams page and this is also where backing tracks will be posted in due course. Happy practising!

We read the story ‘How To Grow A Mermaid’ and then created our own mermaid potions 🧜‍♀️ Some of us added shells to grow their tops and we added washing up liquid to make bubbles 🫧

This morning we continued exploring measure. Using non standards of units to measure, capacity, weight and length.

Last week we continued to develop our blending skills. Using our phonics awareness to form, sound and identify our words.

Last week we were exploring coral reefs, learning about the different types found on the ocean floor and how they are used by many creatures for different purposes.

We have kicked off our new under the sea topic by learning about whales this week! We had so much fun creating our own bubbles like whales blowing from their blowholes and exploring whales in our creative area 🐳 We had lots of fantastic questions we explored throughout the week!

This morning, we were exploring patterns, using shape, line drawing and blocks to create and complete the missing patterns.

This week we have been very busy in numeracy. Practising counting forwards and backwards, exploring tens frames and using our problem solving skills to identify whole amounts and missing numbers on our number line.

For outdoor learning this week, we were using our creativity and curiosity to make some transient art. Working collaboratively to share ideas and celebrate success.

This week we have been practising our sounds and working hard on our blending skills.

For outdoor learning today, we had our first visit to the glen. We had fun using our problem solving skills and positive listening to explore our new learning environment.

We were developing our listening and movement skills during PE yesterday. Using the story of the Snail and the Whale to move our bodies to music and spark our imaginations, by travelling round the room like the different characters and objects in the story.

Yesterday, we participated in our whole school sponsored walk. Completing a kilometre in our community, what a fantastic effort by all. 🚶‍♀️

We have been working on counting to 20 and identifying missing numbers in the number line 🔢

We have been learning how to draw our faces and bodies in writing… So far we have drawn ourselves singing, angry, happy and surprised. Everyone has worked so hard!

We have now finished our first block of sounds 🥳 We have enjoyed consolidating our knowledge through interactive games and activities!

This morning, we continued exploring the properties of 2d shapes. Creating shape pictures, playing shape dominoes and using our knowledge of properties to independently create matchstick shapes.

This morning, we were exploring 2d shapes. Starting our learning off with a shape hunt, followed by some dominoes and creating some shape cities! Working hard to identify everyday 2d shapes and their properties.

Here’s all we’ve been up to in our play this week… We’ve had teddy bear’s picnics and city construction galore! Such great teamwork and turn taking on display already 👏

This week in outdoor learning we learned about positional language. We built obstacle courses and then guided our classmates through them!

As part of our book study ‘Mixed’ we were exploring the primary colours, experimenting with colour mixing to see all the different colours we could make. It was so exciting watching the colours change in our hands.

We having been working hard to create our class charter. Taking inspiration from our book study ‘Mixed’, we designed our own charter city, with each individual represented using finger dots.

We had lots of fun exploring our sounds of the week, s and a. Using our rhymes to help us with our recall and letter formation.

We have been learning all about numbers zero and one this week. Exploring a variety of play experience to consolidate our learning.
