🇬🇧 Explaining EU politics on #Twitch / 🇫🇷 Vulgarise la politique européenne. 📺: https://twitch.tv/mepassistant ✉️: mepassistants(@)gmail(.)com

I'm all in favour of a Sciences Po Bxl (even if it's 20 years late) but it's weird to justify it with the lack of "elite school" in town. That's franco-parisian thinking. Plus, you can already see the competition with the College de Bruges (the current Eurobubble elite school) coming a mile away.

French university Sciences Po is considering opening a campus in Brussels, arguing that the EU capital is “paradoxically” missing its own elite academic institution.

Saying that no decision should go ahead without Germany being part of the majority is completely absurd. If it's a majority vote, let the majority decide. Germany was happy to get Mercosur through without French support. No reason Germany should get a de facto veto when it suits them.

France also supports restricting trade with the Israeli settlements through a qualified majority. Can the EU take such a decision without France and Germany on the same page? Some say that, as long as the numbers add up, the EU should go ahead. Others say Berlin must be in.

Credit where credit is due, this is top tier trolling from Erdogan to offer VDL and Costa loaded guns, given that VDL and the previous Council President, Charles Michel, HATED each other. And one of the highlight of this hatred, SofaGate, took place in Turkey.

EXCLUSIVE: Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa were given engraved pistols and live ammunition as a leaving gift at a NATO summit in Ankara.

Reminder that EU politics is the mirror of European consensus (defined by Member States) at a T moment. Something that was taboo at moment T might not be at T+1 or T+2. If the consensus is left-wing, the Commission will do left-wing stuff. If the consensus is right-wing it'll do right-wing stuff.

The European Commission leaves the door open to financing return hubs with EU funds. "The next steps when it comes to return hubs and to operationalising them are now with member states. We have put up the (legal) framework. We will look and be able to assess any proposal that is mature."

CALLED IT. The petition was legally dead on arrival given how (badly) it was written. That industry dialogue was the only logical and proportionate (good) outcome. Now up to game publishers to play ball and improve the sense of frustration that can be legitimate in some cases.

Video games providers must treat consumers fairly. Under EU consumer law consumers must be informed about the duration and conditions of a video game’s lifespan. If the supply is stopped earlier than the contract states, players should be reimbursed.

The image is a shot from a video game, featuring a sleek, modern sports car driving through a neon-lit cityscape at night. The scene has a futuristic and energetic vibe, with glitch-style text that reads ‘GAME NOT OVER’ overlaying the scene. The presence of a green progress bar at the top. There is a European Commission logo at the bottom left corner.

As usual, nobody talks about the quiet Belgian conspiracy that allowed them to take over the institutions. The fact that fries are available everyday in the canteens of the EU institutions is no coincidence. Nous sachons.

Poor Commissioners who have to stop for 20-30min to recharge their car on their way to/from Strasbourg. 1) Take the train like us plebs and reschedule your sensitive calls. 2) 20-30 min is not bad, just get a coffee & touch grass. 3) Drivers surely appreciate a 20-30min break on a 5 hours drive.

European commissioners are annoyed that their Strasbourg trips involve a pit stop to recharge their electric vehicles. It has become a growing source of irritation for some of Ursula von der Leyen’s top team, officials told POLITICO.

Eurobubble hivemind, I beseech thy help. In my attempt to answer the "what has the EU done for me" question, I'd like your opinion. Which EU laws/programme are: - The most impactful for Europe/Europeans (regardless of public awareness). - Actually not living up to the hype.

Putting a giant word on a building means nothing by itself & won't magically make people fall on their knees in awe. We put "Democracy" on the Berlaymont, great, but what's the message exactly ? That we like democracy ? Very bold. Put a message with an actual and understandable political meaning.
