Being in the ocean swimming, or on the ocean racing our sailboat is where I’m happiest. We’re a sr. couple who were recently adopted by a free-ranging calico cat that we adore, she is the queen of our property. Work for J.A. Schmit - Architect in Kaimuki.
Even with the box jellies that washed ashore, it was an epic morning to walk the beach.
A beautiful early morning walk following the storm. Looking forward to my swim tomorrow!
Sky was pretty dark this morning with approaching storm clouds. Everyone please keep the Big Island in your prayers this weekend. 🙏❤️
Walking the beach this morning, is this a gravity cloud (the one with the bumps)?
She literally sleeps all day, except for meals, etc, so she’s awake to hunt at night at try to wake me up at 2am.
Enjoying my early morning coffee and watching all the lightning going on via the live feed of the Maunakea West facing cameras. Nature’s fireworks!
Wow, the ocean was epic this morning, not only was the water calm, warm and no wind, we had lightning from the tropical storm passing us to the North. Nature’s spotlight.
Had my first swim since the end of Hurricane Lala and then Lowell hit us and really changed how the beach looks. Still, the water was warm and welcoming, everyone’s spirit was joyful and we’re all so thankful we can ocean swim year ‘round.
Still not a lot of the “regulars” swimming, but I’m going give it a try tomorrow so I know for sure.
If any aliens are listening, we can really use your help.
Same beach, took this photo as the tide was coming in, facing Ewa this time.
Heron doing some last minute fishing before Lowell rolls in this afternoon.
Rain is starting, not heavy but I can’t see the ocean because of it.
Scenes from my morning walk, vintage VW vans and bugs!!! Also, plenty jellies, so many I stopped circling them. Figured the storm surge pushed a lot of them to shore. And, a photo of the morning sjy.
The Saturday early morning calm before Lowell begins its trek. No swimming this morning, box jellies arrived. The Kewalo end of Ala Moana Patk.
Forgot to post this morning, but this is the return leg of my Ala Moana beach walk where I pick up rubbish at the water line. It was so beautiful this morning, I’m enjoying life’s little joys in many ways. Grateful.
Started to watch the Hawaii Supreme Court in the voter list debacle. SC in recess right after they started, they "lost" the stream, should reconvene shortly.
Went to my very first Buddhist service at the Moiliili Hongwanji this morning, I really needed it and I will be going back.
Early morning photo of the full moon, taken by another swimmer, absolutely gorgeous. The water was amazing this morning.
Couldn’t sleep past 330am, got up to zero internet, thankfully running my iPad off my iPhone hotspot. Seems Spectrum is still working on getting connections up and running.
Called out a crusty nasty man at the City Mill for parking in the handicap stall. Another man saw it too, and said nothing. In the store, “Crusty” called me a “f’n bitch” to which I answered “don’t ever call me a f’n bitch.” He left without buying anything, and he had to walk past me to get out.
I watched an old German-ish man make a pair of wooden Klompen out of two pieces of wood that he chopped on Youtube tonight. It was friggin’ amazing.
My Friday morning, the calm before Moke arrives on O’ahu late Saturday. Photo was cropped slightly, but not retouched st all.
HUGE “Mahalo” going out to both Spectrum and Hawaiian Electric for getting everyone’s power and internet/cable back on! So much appreciation going out to them during this really challenging weather event we had, I would see them, in the wind and rain, working on the issues.
Still without power and internet since 8am Saturday, due to Lala. I see the HECO and Spectrum crews out working, they’re awesome! HPD, too! Bought a charging cube (should’ve bought it last week!) today, better late than never, I guess. My office has power, no internet tho.
