Just dug out an old laptop thinking I could use it for book formatting purposes instead of sitting at my desktop. Managed to get it to turn on. It doesn't even have MS Word 🤣
Maybe I should rifle around in the Basket of Barely Baked Ideas and start a new project while I slowly finalise #ATOTH stuff? It's better than avoiding writing a blurb at all costs, I guess... #WritingCommunity
I'm mostly agonising over how my cringiest, least defensible arc somehow became a Structural Support Arc. I thought it'd make it easier to justify, but it just made it harder for me to run from my weird demons 🤣

#FantasyIndiesJanuary 16: Raffia would rather forget the events of the opening scene! Azrael did forget a fair amount, but things start coming back to him when he meets Raff.
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 14: There is a LOT of injury in #ATOTH — mostly Azrael taking various blades to various body parts — so rather than listing them all, I thought I'd share a snippet!
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 13 — Childhood books. Clearly I've been neglecting this. When I was really little, I had this bargain bin copy of Little Red Riding Hood that I made my mum read multiple times a day. Apparently it was awful! I loved all of the wolf-related fairy tales.

#FantasyIndiesJanuary 10 — writing strengths: Maybe my prose, particularly wording choice and cadence. Or maybe dialogue and character voice? I can also do description (when I feel like it). My biggest strength is probably subtextomancy, though!
#WritingCommunity, how do you make the Curly Arrow Things? Are they still in?
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 9 — Something your MC would like to try: Raffia: "Wh-why would I want to t-try anything?" Azrael: *Shrugs* "I'll try anything twice." Pretty much sums it up.
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 8: #ATOTH wouldn't translate well on screen. Maybe animation, but as it satirises so many elements of visual media, it'd simply become that which it holds a mirror to, which defeats the purpose. I sometimes imagine the voice cast, though.
The four main characters in #ATOTH are textbook examples of the four attachment styles. I wish I could say this was intentional. I don't understand how it wasn't.
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 7: Best writing advice: Ask yourself two questions. Does it sound good? Does it make sense? Worst writing advice: "Avoid adverbs" and the likes. They're not necessarily wrong, but they're widely misunderstood and notoriously under-explained.
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 6: MC's sense of humour I could waste time talking about Raffia's sense of humour, but Azrael's is far superior. Puns, word play, dad jokes, silliness, cheeky comments... He's got the full comedic package!
#FantasyIndiesJanuary 5: Superstition in WIP I don't think I have anything that truly counts here. I googled a list and found "lucky underwear" so I guess Azrael's socks are as close as we're gonna get 😂
Attempting #FantasyIndiesJanuary, despite my rich history of abandoning them! 1. Hi, I'm Mana. I'm still working on #ATOTH, which is a... *checks notes* satirical exploration of themes such as fandom and neurodivergence in a fantasy-esque setting with a heavy focus on romantic subplots.
#WritingCommunity, what's your favourite perspective to write in? I've recently seen posts on other platforms debating first and third person, but no one ever talks about second — other than to hate on it! I don't think I could write an entire novel in second, but it's fun to dabble in 😁
