@bwjones.bsky.social I walked past a Leica store in DC this afternoon and immediately thought "Bryan needs to know this." So yes, your brand is firmly established.

I want a home renovation show where they have to fix old houses with only the stuff found in the attic/basement/storage spots. This idea brought to you by doing that exact thing just now.
Sitting on the porch of my childhood home in Chicago. Watching bands of kids roaming the streets on bikes and running after the other kids. It's like open casting for "The Sandlot" and it brings me such joy.
As much as I want the White Sox to win, the font type on the Guardians' uniforms is dope.
Does anyone else look at college football helmets and think of Saru from Star Trek Discovery?
So the Pac-12 has nine schools but the Big 10 has eighteen schools and the Big 12 has sixteen schools. Why can't they just make the numbers align. Seriously. My brain, it hurts.
The onion says that this is not a paid advertisement. I call BS. This is clearly a Marine Corps recruiting ad.
Ok but what's he going to rename the Epstein Files? OH! How about the Pedo Package. That's up his alley.

If you need a chuckle this morning, this quick thread is for you. (No, I'm not laughing at someone's injury.)
Saoirse broke her arm on Sunday night. Greenstick fracture, so we thought they'd have to break it cleanly to set it. Today the doctor says, I think I can just push this back into place without breaking it, but if it breaks, that's fine, we can work with that. So he numbs her up and starts pushing.
This is now the only dictionary entry I will accept for this word.
Beneficent [ben-IF-iss-ent] (adj.) - Doing or producing good; performing acts of kindness and charity; characterized by beneficence. Used in a sentence: “Few stars have been so beneficent as Dolly, transforming a lifetime of legendary success into a legacy of gentle munificence.”
This is why you keep awareness of your environment, not just for you but for others. And the chance to chest kick someone who clearly deserves it.
I just want to know who's baby this is? Because I am proud of her like she's one of mine. This is perfection
@merriam-webster.com, since "shenanigans" is a noun, would it be logical to have "shenan" as the verb tense? As in "were going out shenaning tonight" or if past tense, "I have shenaned before and will shenan again"? Just a thought.
My urge to heed this warning remains even though I don't live in Chicago anymore.
Chicagoans Over 25 Urged To Shelter In Place Until Lollapalooza Over

Well done all around. Excellent word, even better use case.
Stridulation [strid-yoo-LAY-shun] - The shrill sound produced by crickets and other insects. Use: “The Great American State Fair promised the thunder of a grateful nation, but delivered only a windswept midway, the stridulation of crickets, and the foreboding squeak of a ramshackle Ferris wheel.”
Friends, if you like bluegrass music, I strongly recommen seeing Alison Kraus and Union Station on their current tour. The level of talent on stage is phenomenal & their joy in playing is palpable. 15/10 memorable evening. NoVa folks, they'll be back this way again mid-July. Might go again.
Friends. After years of the Chicago Pride Parade, I finally made it to the DC pride parade. I did not expect the consulates to go so hard and I love it.
Shout out to Australia for inventing Tim Tams. These things are delicious.

My day job is at a rural branch of a public library, and we have a Pride display. Yesterday I was at the desk when a man came in. Fifties, maybe, or sixties. Plaid shirt, mesh trucker cap, suspenders. He went up to the display and just stood there for a long moment. Then he came up to the desk. 🧵 1/
I'm on the train and someone has a Crocs bag. Which. For some reason (my brain is done. d-u-n. done), made my brain start singing "croc, steady. Steady crocking all night long". So. Yeah. You're welcome.
Chicago would like a coupla two-tree words about this.
The new AP Stylebook, 58th Edition, includes an entry for couple of, which clarifies that it always means two.
Satan came for me so hard today that I got mad enough and literally stepped into the streetlight of an empty street and said "you know what, ok, let's go. Fuck it. Show yourself, coward. I've got energy for this."
I just finished @deannaraybourn.bsky.social 's fantastic "killers of a certain age". It was the perfect "sometimes I wisha person would.." story I needed to read. Thanks for the excellent last dedication.
Audiophile friends. I'm getting into vinyl and need a set up. Thinking turntable with built-in preamp + powered speakers. Needs to be a good beginner set, not breaking the bank. Recommendations?
