"Creative Connections: Teaching Artists with Disabilities" – a panel presented by Erie Arts and Culture and the Barber National Institute – brought together artists and educators to discuss inclusive teaching practices and expanding access to the arts in our community.

Art writer and photographer Fred Scruton has spent years traveling across the U.S. documenting artists working beyond the mainstream. In this clip, he shares insights alongside sketches from Drawing from Within: The Sketchbooks of Frank Novel, on view in the Bacon Gallery through October 2026.

In the 1990s, interdisciplinary artist Fred Wilson served as a juror for the Erie Art Museum Spring Show. Throughout his career, Wilson has examined the role museums play in shaping history, culture, and memory. #BlackHistoryMonth

Rostered Erie Arts & Culture Teaching Artist Nicholas Gore works alongside students in relaunching Kids as Curators. Kids as Curators opens this Friday, February 27, 2026, on Gallery Night at the Erie Art Museum.

In Kids as Curators: No Community Without “U” or “I”, rostered Erie Arts & Culture Teaching Artist Nicholas Gore worked with youth artists from Dafmark Creative Arts Center to explore how museums collect, interpret, and present artwork.

From Pike Road, Alabama, Mose Tolliver (b. 1920 – d. 2006) is celebrated as an “outsider artist” for his bold, minimalist paintings using house paint on found masonite, cardboard, and metal. The Erie Art Museum is proud to house this untitled work by Mose Tolliver in our collection.
