I realized @thecongressman.bsky.social and I never shared this one here, but here are the finished pages from an old Sonic and Knuckles collab. Life and obligations kept us from going as far as we planned, but I'm immensely honored to work with him and proud of our work #SonicTheHedgehog ⬇️

Page One: (5 panels)

Panel 1- The panel shows an overhead landscape image of Azure Lake on Angel Island. There is a tree casting shade. Knuckles may be spotted there with a few animals.

(A) Caption
Azure Lake, Angel Island.

Panel 2- This panel is closer in, showing Knuckles laying down under the tree, his eyes closed, a faint smile on his face. Among the animals one thought was to include a giant flicky and maybe one of the 3D blast versions for variety.

Panel 3- There’s the sound of an engine humming up above towards the sky. Knuckles opens his eye, moderately concerned

(B) SFX
VRRRRRRR!

Panel 4- The panel shows Sonic in the Tornado, flying towards Angel Island, potentially waving down at Knuckles.

Panel 5- Knuckles, now standing, is looking up, concerned. He’s still a little wary since Sonic’s presence usually means trouble one way or another.

What’s he doing here?

Page Two: (6 panels)

Panel 1- The Tornado has touched down and Sonic is seen jumping from the cockpit, a smirk on his face. He’s glad to be able to move while Knuckles is standing there, his arms folded. The animals are excited to see Sonic.

(A) Sonic
Phew, there you are! I was looking all over the island for ya.

(B) Knuckles
Well, you found me. What do you want, Sonic?

Panel 2- Sonic is now closer to Knuckles, a smug look on his face. He can’t help but tease Knuckles a little, who still looks a bit bemused.

(C) Sonic
Good to see you too, Knucklehead. How long’s it been?

(D) Knuckles
(still stiff) Not long enough. Where’s Tails?

(E) Sonic
At his workshop working on one of his machines. The little guy’s busy, so I figured I’d head out on my own for awhile. He’s partly why I’m here, though.

Panel 3- Sonic is more in focus, maybe a hand out and gesturing as he recounts the story. Alternatively, you could have him petting one of the animals to get across his dynamic with them.

(F) Sonic
He wanted to take some time to study the Chaos Emeralds. We have one on hand, but he said he needs another to see if they have different properties. I figured I should check here to see if one wound up on Angel Island since they scatter all over.

Panel 4- The panel shows Sonic looking at Knuckles, who now has a hand on his hip and another on his chin.

(G) Knuckles
The Chaos Emeralds, huh?

(H) Sonic
Right. I know it’s a long shot, but been any around?

Panel 5- The panel’s view is over Knuckles’ shoulder, one of his hands extended while Sonic looks surprised towards his hand

(I) Knuckles
As a matter of fact…

Panel 6- The yellow Chaos Emerald is in Knuckles’ palm as the focus

Page Three: (6 panels)

Panel 1- Sonic is looking at the emerald, a smile on his face, a faint glow is coming off it

(A) Sonic
Wow, that was easier than I expected. When did you find it?

(B) Knuckles
I found it when I was patrolling Sandopolis. I was surprised, but I figured I might as well keep it on hand.

Panel 2- Sonic nods, his eyes closed as he thinks, a hand is on his elbow and the other hand is palm up while he muses.

(C) Sonic
Guess I’m lucky you decided to pay attention. I know you found it and all, but maybe I could-

Panel 3- The panel is roughly a match, but now Sonic’s eyes are open in surprise and facing towards his hand, where Knuckles has lightly tossed the Chaos Emerald.

(D) Knuckles
Here. Take it.

(E) Sonic
Huh?

Panel 4- Knuckles has turned his back from Sonic and is walking away from the hedgehog, a hand up as if to dismiss him. Sonic is holding the emerald in both hands.

(F) Knuckles
You got what you came for. My job guarding the Master Emerald will be easier if I don’t have to worry about the other emeralds attracting attention.

Panel 5- Knuckles is alone, walking to the right from the Panel’s point of view, his eyes closed. (This panel is a joke set up, Sonic’s speed blur should be seen going from behind Knuckles and past him and lead into next panel)

(G) Sonic (Off-panel, from behind Knuckles)
Really? You sure?

(H) Knuckles
I don’t mind, besides, I better get back to work. Have a safe flight back, give Tails my best.

Panel 6- Near match panel, but now Sonic has zipped in front of Knuckles, the speed trail stopping behind Sonic. Knuckles is stopped, surprised Sonic’s in front of him now. Sonic has an impish grin.

(G) Sonic
Thanks, pal, but it doesn’t feel right just grabbing this and leaving. Besides, I just got here and I need to stretch my legs a bit. You sure I can’t do something to help you out as thanks?

Page Four: (4 panels)

Panel 1- Knuckles, visibly sighing in exasperation, is looking at Sonic. Sonic is balancing the emerald on his index finger, lightly sassing Knuckles

(A) Knuckles
Fine, if you REALLY want, then you can help me with resetting some of the traps on the island. Just promise not to get in my way.

(B) Sonic
Me? Get in your way? Wouldn’t dream of it! After all, you do that better than anyone else! Just let me know when you need me to do something and I’ll get on it.

Panel 2- Knuckles and Sonic are shown walking away from the area, but there’s a sensor visor over the panel and it’s green colored. Someone with high tech binoculars is looking at them

(C) Knuckles
Alright, this way. We’ll take a shortcut to speed this up.

Panel 3- The panel shows Fang the Hunter across the lake, hidden amongst greenery, holding the binoculars.

Panel 4- The binoculars are down, and Fang’s shown smiling wide.
