"The documents raised an obvious question – how could DAFM claim the sport was under constant review when its own inspectors were absent from around 98% of events?" Inspectors from the Department were only at 4 of around 200 coursing meetings between 2019 and 2023 – none in the years 2021 & 2023.

"We shouldn't be building private suites in our national children's hospital, we shouldn't be building in inequality into our health system." Private healthcare should have no place in CHI, the same way as it should have no place in our maternity hospitals. We have to end to this two-tiered system

We have to save the triple lock. Don't listen to the government's spin and lies that our 'neutrality is not under threat'. They're saying their intentions openly in the 'priorities' for the EU Council presidency. They want to scrap the triple lock and line Ireland up with imperial warmongers.

Developer-led planning has been a disaster. Citywest (and many other places) have been denied basic facilities as developers try to squeeze even more profit out. Housing and the public services that should go with them are a fundamental right.

"If the mark of a 'civilised society' is how it treats its most vulnerable members, then the lack of care shown towards adults with intellectual disabilities marks out this state as a profoundly uncivilised one."

The government spent €100,000 of public money on a KPMG report on data centres and then deleted anything negative from it! We are just paying for their propaganda to pretend that data centres aren't driving up our electricity prices and cutting across housing and transport!

A real pleasure to speak about resisting Big Tech and AI at the ecosocialist summer camp organised by RISE. This was our biggest camp yet, with over 100 attending. People are looking for an alternative to a world dominated by crises and attacks on our living standards.

Out in Kiltalown this morning about the outrageous attempt of the Council to hike Council, HAP, Homeless HAP and AHB rents. How can people afford a 25%+ increase in rent during a cost of living crisis? A people power movement can stop this.

Bild

Out in Allenton last night on a lovely evening talking about the Council's attempted rent increases. One couple I spoke to had their rent hiked by more than 30%. People simply cannot afford that during a cost of living crisis. We must stop them, join the campaign.

Really begs the question how much he has donated to 'Progress Ireland' to push his deregulation agenda doesn't it? Calls for wealth taxes on the super-rich are growing across the world and People Before Profit will renew our call for a tax on multi-millionaires in Budget 2027.

Irish entrepreneur Patrick Collison donated $7m to group opposing California wealth tax

Building a Better California opposes proposal that would require California’s billionaire residents to pay a one-off tax on their assets

Witnesses of Ulm 5 trial in Germany speak out. Irish citizen Daniel Tatlow-Devally is subject to a show trial for taking action for Palestine. He is locked up 23 hours a day and only allowed to talk to family for an hour a month. Irish government must send observers.

Bild

"All the evidence suggests that an Irish citizen Daniel Tatlow-Devally along with 4 others is being denied a fair trial by another European state." This show trial of #TheUlm5 is ongoing currently. The Irish Government MUST send permanent observers to the trial to defend the rights of its citizens

The fightback against AI must start now. These tech billionaires pushing AI on us are fundamentally anti-humanist, they think they can replace our art with AI-generated content. They just don't get it - they see art as another realm for them to add to their profit portfolio.

If you didn't know better, you'd assume this headline meant the government is adopting a Melenchon style proposal for a 100% inheritance tax for anything over €12 million. Unsurprisingly they're actually doing the opposite and cutting tax for a tiny wealthy minority...

"It is an epidemic. The courts are full of women seeking barring and harassment orders. Thousands of children are growing up in violent homes." Laws like Jennie's Law are welcome, but we must fight the problem at it's root - sexism, misogyny, and the way that capitalism profits off of both of them.

A cruel joke that school books are being made free, while schools are encouraged to use them less and less in favour of "Ed-Tech" at the expense of parents. We need a serious examination of what technology is useful and when in the classroom, especially with others going back to basics.

Time is ticking for children with rare diseases in Ireland. We know for example that Skyclarys is the only drug that has been shown to slow Friedreich's ataxia, and it's available in other European countries.

Nobody wants a future where the majority of the internet and 'creative content' is AI slop. That's the future unless we collectively pull the brake on generative AI. This isn't a runaway train. The narrative of inevitability is propagated by Big Tech to try and profit off pushing AI at us.

The hypocrisy of all of Big Tech and our governments pushing generative AI is unreal. Big tech has pirated the entire creative output of humanity. One rule for them, one rule for us. Reject this pure corporate propoganda about AI. Support artists.
