I’ve done four councillor clinics so far on AKL’s Amended Plan Change 120. 17 people have come for in depth one (or two) on one chats, over 8 hours; 2 hours each at Lynfield, St Lukes, Three Kings & Mt Eden Village. One more to go this weekend, in Epsom. Do you have any q about it? HMU! #LoveAKL

Residents constantly ask why councils aren't doing more to protect trees, because we all recognise the importance of urban ngahere. But Government continues to make it harder to do so. They rejected Auckland Council's last attempt to schedule more trees and it appears RMA reform isn't any better.

I'm taking a junior associate to an Auckland Philharmonia concert tomorrow night and in the email reminder it asks folks to not come if they are unwell and gives them a link to register that and get a credit for their tickets that they can use up to the end of 2026. Great idea!
My senior junior associate rides his e bike to & from AKL uni, about 10km each way, usually 4 or 5 days a week. He worked out the other day it costs us 40c a week to charge. $200 for an annual service, add on say another $200 a year to fix bits, and it’s included in our insurance.

An u16 social media ban on selected platforms a) won't significantly stop u16s being those platforms; Australian evidence shows this. b) will institute mass identity surveillance of all users of any age on those platforms; and c) Won't affect key sources of online safety risk (roblox, chatbots).
Under 16s social media ban is once again an individualised response to problems that needs collective solutions. It’s a Look We Are Doing Something, but it’s a stupid something. What we need is govt regulation with enforcement & investment in measures to promote social cohesion.
Luxon said today on RNZ he hasn't broken the promise to AKL because they are going to explore other options, as part of the work to explore an accommodation levy. Um wot. He explicitly ruled out an accommodation levy yesterday - how can a process to explore the thing he ruled out even start?

Today Luxon announced he won’t be doing that. Which promise will he break - the one to Auckland in April or the one on the hustings today? Because he can’t keep both.
