“…there is no empirical evidence that ties bike lanes as the sole source of congestion, (nor) is there data that shows removing bike lanes help with better traffic flow…removing bike lanes leads to less safe roads for cyclists and pedestrians.” Contact Doug Ford 416-325-1941 premier@ontario.ca
What Ford’s own staff said about bike lanes: Internal records show provincial bureaucrats refuted Doug Ford’s arguments before he ordered Toronto bike lanes removed via @thestar.com

Canada is hosting England at BMO Field for the WXV Global Series tonight. It features the top 12 national teams in international women’s rugby. Of course I am here. I am very sporty. Let’s go, Canada!
Today in Grade 3 S: Why does it matter who gets elected? Me: Because that person makes decisions for a few years. S: Like what? Me: Doug Ford is the leader of ON. He decided to remove Toronto bike lanes. S: WHAT?! But bike lanes keep you safe! It’s official. Doug Ford is dumber than an 8-year old.

We’re reading Charlotte’s Web right now so today’s playground discovery felt a little bit magical.
Nice to see Toronto police providing safe passage for people using mobility aids. Just kidding. They’re protecting the construction crew ripping out bike lanes in a gross overreach by Doug Ford that flies in the face of logic, public safety, and common sense. #DefundThePolice #DeposeDougFord
They then called in a “public order” unit and blocked off the whole street causing congestion. Apparently you need an overkill amount to intimidate people with a cane and wheelchair.
Me: How many cops does it take to rip out a bike lane? You: I give up. How many? Me: 36. You: I don’t get it. Where’s the joke? Me:
shame

Starting my day on transit with a weird dude walking up to people and saying, “Telepathy is a commodity,” while staring into our souls with laser beam eyes. Is this the dangerous Toronto Brad Bradford is scared of? Because no one on this streetcar seems even a little bit bothered.
Can someone ask Doug Ford why he changed his mind about keeping bike riders safe in the city that didn’t choose him to be the mayor?
Doug Ford is spending $48M ripping out bike lanes. It will not improve drive times. It will get people injured and killed. Hurl this man to the trash heap where he belongs. Throwing him in jail would also be acceptable but we all know Ontario cops will never hold him accountable for anything.

We all deserve to thrive in our city, but so many of us continue to struggle. If we raise our voices together, we can spark bold change and push leaders at City Hall to take action and build a city for all. www.cityforall.ca

I just had this conversation with someone who lives outside Toronto but read a headline about the dangers of the city. I don’t want a fearmonger for mayor. I want someone who cares about people and finding solutions other than hiring more cops to solve the real problems facing Toronto residents.
I'm betting that a lot of people who respond to polls saying they feel more unsafe in Toronto now are conflating the feeling of "I am physically unsafe and under threat in my environment" with "there was a homeless man on the sidewalk on my way to the Eaton Centre and I don't want to see that."

I was about to head to Sobeys for some festive groceries and emergency rations for holiday Monday when Kitten curled up in my lap and reminded me that we have more than enough food at home.
Bike lane removals from Islington to Royal York are anticipated to start the evening of Oct. 13. Community members are encouraged to meet at the Bloor Green P Lot for Tom Riley Park at 5pm onwards (come whenever you can) 1/2

I lead a very fortunate life. I’m grateful for so many things every single day. HOWEVER. There are mornings - like this one - when being a clumsy person in a teeny tiny home has more than a few bruisy disadvantages. Happy #Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating. Stay safe out there.

Former staff say he drove them to tears. Some colleagues call him a bully. But Brad Bradford is betting that this election day, enough Torontonians will be as angry as he seems to be. New from @royinori.bsky.social, a portrait of the man who really wants to be mayor. thelocal.to/brad-bradfor...
Parent Teacher Meeting After School on a Friday P: Have you tried positive reinforcement? Me: Yes, of course. P: He really likes to hear that he’s doing a good job and that you’re proud of him. Me: We all like that. Good job making it to the long weekend, lovelies. I’m proud of you.

Elon Musk routinely inserts himself into Canadian politics. Despite this, Canada’s political class continues to use Twitter — legitimizing him and his far-right talking points. Canadian politicians need to make a choice: either they support Elon Musk, or their constituents. It can’t be both.
