#Satellite images show further damage to the Commonwealth war cemetery in #Gaza. Between 5th and 16th April 2026 a bulldozed track was cut, covering the S. wall and part of the cemetery. This is symptomatic of continued damage to land and buildings across the occupied Red Zone. Source: Planet Labs.

Our Iraqi colleagues, Professor Zainalabideen Aljaafar, Dr Aqeel Ghalib Al-Khrayfawee, & Dr Jaafar Jotheri visited EAMENA’s Leicester team to present their work documenting the destruction of archaeological sites in Iraq. They also met Leicester’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Nishan Canagarajah.

Our new report on satellite imagery assessment of damage to heritage sites in the Gaza Strip is online. This analysis records widespread damage across the territory & lists only 100 of the 524 sites listed on the EAMENA database as being in a ‘Good’ or ‘Fair’ condition. 🔗 eamena.org/article/remo...

Remote-sensing assessment of Gaza's heritage shows the devastating impact of systematic demolition of #Gaza City's eastern Shejaiya area as recently as December, incl. west of the Yellow Line. This area has the highest density of documented historic structures outside the centre of Gaza City.
