This is both Colorado’s and Denver’s hottest start to a year on record (Jan-Sept), and it’s not even close. Statewide temps so far in 2026 are 1.6° warmer than 2012, a blowout for warmest year-to-date on record. The influence of a warming climate is clear on the chart below.

It'll be a lot colder and (hopefully) wetter at some point late next week/weekend (Oct 14-18). Timing is very uncertain, depends on when the main trough kicks out. I think a first Denver freeze is a realistic possibility late next week/weekend. But rain/snow specifics...ignore for now.

Denver (DIA) tied the record high again today at 87° so far. Back-to-back record highs tied, 14th record high tied/broken so far this year in Denver. Still time to potentially break the record. #COwx

Looks like Fort Collins (CSU) hit 90° again, smashing the old daily record of 85°. That's also a new latest 90°+ on record for the 2nd-straight day. #COwx
