The fact that this was a real post put out by the Department of Homeland Security in a climate where Sikhs and South Asians are targets for racism and hate crimes in the US and Canada is truly abhorrent.

I reached out to Doc von Lichtenberg, the host of the event, who demanded that I send him half a dozen links to my stories and my full name if I wanted to speak to him. I asked if he'd speak to me after, and he said maybe. Then he added a bit more:

I really enjoyed yelling at how susceptible we all are to wanting to feel like someone is standing up for us, even when that person is defunding healthcare and education, centralizing power and undermining other governing bodies, failing to hit their own housing targets, and racking up scandals.
