Work wanted to film me talking about things that I care about ... so obviously I talked about reading assembly and why it still matters :) www.youtube.com/shorts/cZbkQ...
Do developers still need to read assembly?

Arg. What happened to Google home stuff? I used to come home and "hey Google, play some music please". Today I said that three times: - sure here's a playlist called sunflower - sure here's some (giant long playlist name I didn't recognise) - sure here's a playlist called "some music" Srsly...
Can someone help my pal make it up to Chicago for #vcfmw ? Thanks in advance!
Ok I'm officially putting out the call for help, Wonderbread (my prius) is acting up and I think it's unsafe to drive it to Chicago. Looking for folks driving through Pittsburgh to #VCFMW. I will need a little bit of cargo space.

Well, I let myself get distracted as to why my Spectrum emulator's newer versions weren't as fast as the older ones...as is the way a couple of single line changes and now they're beating the old way comprehensively... I should be concentrating on C++26 stuff but I can't help myself!
Ok...I am now cautiously optimistic about what cool tricks I can play with C++26 (obviously for my emulator....)
Poking about with compile time consteval programming. Finally understanding why @hanicka.net wants everything to be constexpr. Also, trying to bridge the gap from compile time data to static constants at runtime is painful...
[back in the day] Low level programmers: "It's all about optimizing every byte and every cycle, use as little RAM as you can" Other devs: "Nonsense. We have plenty of RAM" [today] Low level programmers: "Well well well"
Some hobby JavaScript work (admittedly with lots of LLM help) has led to some jsbeeb updates too: hqx support, disc structure visualiser, HFE disc image archive support too. Nice to knock out some very old todos (mostly while I was gardening!)
Did some C++ hobby coding for the first time in ages. Trying out some C++26 stuff and oh gosh, compiler errors are not helpful, are they!? GCC 16.2 and some "X cannot be cast to X" type errors...and std::string_view is not structural so I can't use it how I'd like... Had to step away in frustration

Why would you need to download and install code libraries these days? Just ask your AI to add the feature into your own codebase... It's simpler than package management in C++ (this has been a C++ package management joke post, please behave accordingly)
